Central line is the loudest, the bit near Bethnal Green clocked 113dB. I'm so glad I can get the Lizzy line instead these days, air-conditioned bliss compared to the Central sauna line.

And.. the NOX sensor has finally arrived. I'm sitting in the showroom now whilst I fit it.

This is as exciting as updates get.

Also, there's an EQE here in the showroom, but it's locked.

Insurance shocker on the horizon.

Just got the renewal quote for the RR. Its now gone fully mental and has increased by 110% YoY. Previously an eyewatering £1800 p.a. which I could wrap my head around as the prior one got stolen. Now they want £3770 and are still the cheapest quote.

Puts me in a bit of a bind really as clearly that is ridiculous (apparently insurers have been pulling out of the market left right and centre re RR's in London) but it renews in just under a month. I think in reality I'm going to have to pay it and then decide if I want to sell it and get a partial refund for a lower premium on a replacement.

Problem is there isn't really any other SUV I want.

2023 is really wearing me down TBH.

Boxster had yellow light to go to the pub workshop appear the other week.

Took it in yesterday, some cat issue. Reset didn't come back on. Probably due to secondary cats removed.

Apparently very difficult to get these days. Turo guys who were running 5+ cars weren't bothering because of the hassle. Bet it's still going to be wayyy more than £3k a year too.

Agree - can't imagine a trader policy would be cheaper. Likely need to be a limited company as well.

Tbh, I'd have got rid if I was being asked to pay £1800 to insure a car. That's daft money imo.

I can just about stomach £1800 and to be honest living in South London and street parking things (e.g. a 911) - its never been south of £1000. This latest jump is another thing altogether though...

Question is - what do you get instead? I can't really get excited about any of the alternatives and every time I drive it it will annoy me that I was forced to sell the Range Rover. Maybe a Cayenne with a light interior and pan roof perhaps. XC90 is the bland middle class mobile everyone has, BMW X5 and GLS too vulgar. Q7/Q8 very dull also.

@Broccers Yes I said to my wife this morning that we have to move out - but, err... have you checked mortgage rates recently? Feels a little like being trapped in a burning building with no exits at the moment.

Imagine you hold on to that Range Rover for another 3 years and end up paying £14,000 (plus last year) total just for insurance. That’s madness.

@Broccers Ironically its great for that - speedbumps, potholes, stuck in traffic and carrying two mountain bikes on the back...

I've spent 310 hours in it in 18 months so it certainly gets used.

I’d agree that sitting in a 4x4 in London is infinitely nicer than a regular car for those reasons. But for those costs I’d be test driving a Cayenne or whatever other alternatives there are - you never know, might like it for different reasons!

Something like this looks OK but when you actually work through the maths it all falls apart. They would probably only give me mid 40s for the RR so 10k to change for a car that's the same age with a much worse interior that will still be £1500 p.a. to insure. It would take 5 years to break even on the insurance saving...

Errm…I’ve just renewed the X5 insurance. It was £460…I felt that was expensive. Mrs A’s mini was £140 last year.
