I keep meaning to have a run through the town, I enjoyed my time there, albeit through the eyes of a 7-11 yr old.

If you do so on a weekday, give me a shout - I'm usually there and will take you for lunch.

I'm currently working in Stourbridge. Where have you opened your new place?
Edit - Chancery house? Literally over the road. I can almost see your building from here

That's it - I'll be there tomorrow. Are you working at the hairdressers?
Quite a Stourbridge mafia going on!

I now have a mirror which looks like the sort that should actually fit on the car.
Autodoc haven't got back to me about the returns process yet

Actually, potentially dumb question - I don't have the space to spray up the new mirror inside (not without some more rejigging of the spare room/office to mask off the floor and walls - hanging sheets from the ceiling, a sheet on the carpet, fan to pull out fumes etc) and can't really do it outside either as I'm on a main road.
Obviously the primer won't last long in direct sunlight on the car, but will it do anything that can't be fixed by sanding back, repriming, painting and clearcoating at a later date?
Passenger mirror could do with a respray anyway, so could do both at once.
I'm not particularly afraid of trying some rattle-can work (and I don't care too much if the finish isn't perfect), just a bit of a logistical fail at the moment in terms of doing it

Get a large cardboard box, take it outside, spray it in it like a mini booth then you can close it up and bring it inside to dry off

No, I mean, I'm literally on a fairly heavily traffic'd footpath, even that would be a case of spray for a minute, wait several minutes for someone downwind to go past, and then spray for another minute.
Definitely easier to do inside, and less chance of a fly getting stuck in it, to boot.

Fabia has a new washer pump. Washers now work.

Mirror installed, after some false starts with a multipin connector that looked like it was secured and locked, but actually allowed you to lock it when it's not fully in place.
....twice.
Now works fine. Just need the new glass to arrive (crazed glass in place for now) and that'll be that sorted for now.

Oh, fantastic, we’ll be needing some welding for the MOT.

Meh, the chances of finding one which has perfect, never welded sills are pretty much zero!
Chop a decent square out and bosh a plate on with a slot cut out for the plastic pad and it’ll be fine. I bet the jacking point inside is solid.
If you want more accurate sections, saloon sils are cheap enough, only the section right at the back is different underneath and you can hide any horizontal join under the skirts.

Fitted a hideously tacky 90s sticker to the compact. Loaded up with vast amounts of booze and a tent, drove to goodwood and got thoroughly pissed up and ate like cavemen for the weekend at retrorides 2023.
It probably won’t be staying, as it seems a bit weird on something driven by a 40+ year old grey haired man
On the Sunday I packed up my stuff and drove over to the circuit where anything pre 2001 can park on the track.
Pic nicked off Facebook which does a great job of hiding just how much dust and ash was on it
Found a numberplate friend
Saw a red lawnmower
Found one of the other 1998 bmw limited edition Fiji green Z3s ( 110 1.9, 50 2.8s ) ( yes I know my paint is awful before you start Rich B, I still haven’t had a go at painting it)
Arrived home tired, dehydrated, pink, but smiling

Nice
I didn't know the Fijis were a limited run (I thought they were just a not often ordered Individual colour).

Nor did I, one of the people at the bmw show I went to a few weeks ago had an M3 imola individual (GTII) with a print out from the dealers in the window

TBH the hairdressers might be easier....I work at an IT place just around the corner. Can't fix hair, can fix IT stuff if you need it.

Of course the mirror glass has to go through customs.
