Sat in a pub with about 50 people.. quite deafening! Thankfully I didn’t spill my beer!

The people who have deliberately started fires need custodial sentences.

There needs to be more focus on the investigations into and prosecution of people starting fires, if they ever get caught.

I’ve seen several news articles blaming the hot weather on the heat that causes the fires. Using the traditional Heat, Fuel, Oxygen, fire triangle. Bollox, I bet a tiny fraction are started naturally, the vast amount by people, either intentionally or by being thick and doing something stupid with no thought of the consequences.

Of course the hot weather is what’s made so much vegetation so flammable, but it’s not really the cause of the fires.

I wondered what the fcuk was happening! Thought my computer was overheating or something

Anyone get a second one at 2020hrs? Or was my phone just having a fit.

It went off literally as I pressed start in the car. I thought it had gone full Ford and shit itself, when infact it was just me

Out on the morning walk there was a car with heat reflective padded bags over the wheels that faced the sun.

We're near the Hague and had the biggest and loudest thunderstorm I've ever heard overnight. Barely rained at all, but the rolling booms were very impressive. DJLet3 was very unimpressed and ended up in our bed.

Quite often get Amber alerts in the US.. worryingly they often include the car and reg which makes me wonder how that info is known without someone being able to stop the child abduction… I guess a quiet siren isn’t much use, so we will probably end up having more alerts here now the government has seen the response.

Exactly the reason I had already disabled them, you just know they’re going to be used for stupid non emergencies.

I want it to tell me if there’s a fire nearby and I may need to evacuate. I don’t need that noise and disturbance telling me not to light fires.

I wonder how many more people will have turned them off after last nights pointless exercise?

Extreme alerts are reserved for rare, life-threatening emergencies requiring immediate action, whereas severe alerts notify you of serious, dangerous situations that may be less catastrophic or unfolding slower.

Me and the kids were on the way back from York on the train. All the warnings went off and on 3 separate occasions the alarm on the train was used and over the tannoy this warning was read out.

Seems a bit excessive.

aaah, but did you undertake any activity that could start a fire, including disposable barbecues, firepits, garden incinerators or fireworks?

Someone in our village WhatsApp group seems very anti mowing currently. She misquoted the alert to include not mowing. God knows what she has against it - short grass will provide a better fire break anyway.

It's some sponge who thought grazing was bad and the farmers were saying months back that in there was too much dry grass, fuel left.

So I expect everyone to go out and purchase an Alpaca.
