I don't want to be a twat but it's probably all done on a CNC router, just have to then wood glue all the inlays in, sand it and cover in a layer of resin. Then sand it all again.

@Mito Man - Fair point. That would certainly correlate better with the "12hrs" timescale.

@Sundayjumper - Are they offering to do others? I know someone who would probably love a similar Aston one. :geek:

Welp, some utter cretin has smashed - and I do mean smashed - my driver's side wing mirror. No fixing that shit, it's broken the die cast mount so just have been one hell of a wallop.

£90 on autodoc later and hopefully I'll have a new one in a few days.

Fucks sake.

Get down your local breakers yard Beany.

Just been to one in Swansea with my daughter to get a Bose Amp and a door handle trim for her Mito. She was thrilled as she thought "junkyards" are an American thing, she's now describing it to her mates as like something out of The Walking Dead

Are there any old school junk yards left?! I loved clambering into old e30s back in the day with my sockets and screw drivers.

I'd just go to eBay these days though.

They sell on ebay but it was only a few miles away so popped over.

v pic from their website but that was only a small part of it, lots of bits were stripped and warehoused as well.

Can even see a mito in the photo 😄 mine hasn’t got Bose despite loads of other unusual options.

Must admit, I’ve never actually been to a scrapyard. Just creating my own …

Bentley thing looks nicely done. I don’t want it, and have no idea what anyone would do with it. It would also drive me mad that the gold bit is all swirly and not a uniform gold.

Same, on all counts. The big one down at Pease Pottage was brill. I think the last time I went was for a blower motor for a Cavalier, which dates the visit to about 2004.

Elf n safety out an end to that. Which is probably a good thing, as they were feckin death traps. I didn’t enjoy removing bits from cars that were sitting on top of other cars :?

Despite living in Sunderland, I've even been to that one

Wife knocked our Focus wing mirror off and managed to get what I needed for far less than on eBay at the time.

Last time I went to a scrappy I needed the rear cross member and trailing arms for my 325i. I couldn't get the bolts undone myself so got the guys to help. They couldn't either so they lifted a whole e30 tourer into the back of their flatbed lorry, strapped the cross member down the used the crane arm on one end of the car, turning it into a huge lever and ripping the bolts through the body!

Yeah, maybe health and safety changes were a good thing...

I bought the rear door for the f31 cheap on eBay - it was delivered, in the right colour a few days later.

WRT to scrappies, UPullIt in York has an E46 but the drivers side mirror is smashed so that's pointless. Also it'd involve motorway driving without a drivers side mirror, which is do-able but not something I'd want to do. It'd probably be £50 and then a tenner on fuel and half a day to get there, get it off, and get back.

Or I can just order the damned thing for £90 and it'll (hopefully) be here middle of next week or so. I didn't see many non power-folding E46 mirrors on eBay and the ones I did see weren't much cheaper than the new one.

That said, the last time I ordered from Autodoc it took them weeks to deliver a spring....

....oh well, we'll see.

Autodoc ? Oh. Right. Great prices and great range of stuff, but I've never had anything turn up quickly.

yeeeeaaaaah. Last time it was customs related, and that was two years ago. No excuse for that now.

But they were the only place with a right side door mirror that I could find in a pinch that didn't involve throwing three hundred quid at BMW so hey ho what you gonna do.
