See the comment on the quad bike gang that went tearing through the tunnel on the way in making cars brake.

Also, the reason we were in Southbank was because the place we were supposed to be going looked like a dodgy shithole so we drove past and changed plans

Ours had a couple of days like that when it was over 35'. Did work ok then in the evening.

It’s mad how it’s 35°C in my flat right now but that feels manageable compared to the other week because the humidity is lower. It’s also mad that 35 feels manageable.

Managed to get our bedroom down to 25° last night and for the first time in months slept right through to my alarm.

Definitely a nicer heat than the last heatwave, with a bit of a breeze too at times.

Our pool was a chillier 31 today. Wednesday it hit 35 degrees. I'm getting better at managing the heat in the house with the ACs and opening/closing windows at the right time. But I still think it'll put a ducted system in the next place.

Thames was 21.5oC this week.. just buy a boat hth

I fitted a ceiling fan in my bedroom and that’s been bloomin amazing. Would highly recommend.

I had one of those in an old house. Seconded.

We've been looking at these....alas anything that looked decent isn't cheap, so decided to just put the cash into the AC fund installed over winter.

I’ve spent a lot of time in the Caribbean and rooms typically have both; I would say that fans feel nice but a/c reduces the temperature significantly more. Given the choice of just one option, I’d go a/c

Technology Connections did a video about those recently, and as ever it was "no way can you make a video about ceiling fans, this long, and still make it interesting"

On an unrelated note, I'm fucking melting. I swear it's the thick end of 30deg *downstairs* where it's usually cooler. In a t-shirt and shorts and still sweating while seated.

Bedroom down to a rather pleasant 22c this morning, and as it’s a bit overcast didn’t start rocketing at 5am when the sun starts coming in.

You can feel the inside of the external walls on the back of the house are still noticably warmer than the air temperature, and can tell the difference when you go from the front to the back of the house.

Keep thinking about ac but really don’t see how you could fit it in our small old house with lots of windows and not much wall space (inside or out) without massive pipe runs or the condenser looking awful.

We also have a hosepipe ban for the first time in as long as I can remember. Quite surprised as we seemed to have about 8 months of almost constant rain before it warmed up a bit.

I’ve bought a better powered pressure washer I can feed from a bucket to air rinsing down the cars.

Surely it’s about time everyone had to have a water meter? Our neighbours are on standard rate and spend about 4h every evening watering their poly tunnels, veg patch and flowers.

Be nice if the water companies could fix leaks in a timely manner too. I passed one which was making a significant stream down the road for about a month before they bothered fixing it and then had temporary traffic lights at the site for over a week for what ended up being a two day repair.
