Anyway I’m a bit pissed off now. Went to wash the car and noticed a bit of paint flaking off one of the wheels and it had bubbled.
Maybe it had been damaged from a stone chip. Keep going round and every wheel is fucked. Multiple spots with bubbling
Image
I had it refurbed 2.5 years ago by Lepsons so it’s no longer covered by warranty and it’s only done 9000 miles since then and always parked in a garage/under cover so I think it’s frankly piss poor and wasn’t prepped correctly.

I’m not sure if I’ll bother going back to them, best case scenario I get offered a discount but I’m not sure it’s worth it it if I get the same result as it’s frankly the standard that I’d expect from a rushed smart repair for £30 a wheel…

My dad had some wheels done by Lepsons ages ago and considering how many people had recommended them the quality was hugely underwhelming. Very uneven coating with patches of orange peel.

I had the mx5 tested today at the local Mazda dealer, the only reason I used them is because it came with MOT cover. It passed with advisories for all four discs "worn, pitted or scored but not seriously weakened" and a £978 estimate for pads and discs

Yes, they're a bit rusty as I barely do any mileage in it, a few high speed stops should sort them and if not the parts are less than £300.

I fitted the 2 OEM headlight washer replacements today. A cinch on the n/s but o/s required the Dremel to have a word with a few of the screws in the arch liner pieces. Still, they now work perfectly, don't leak and fully retract back into the bumper.

Was watching a few Sreten vids last night and ended up giving everything a bit of a scrub

Also took a look at the driving lights which I knew were a little corroded. Err, yeah they're utterly screwed

The housing seems to be aluminium which I assume they've played. But the alu is completely corroded all over so has blown the coating off. Not sure what reaction has gone on for the housings to have corroded like that.

That’s exactly what happens to my Defender wing mirror arms every other year

Twingo failed it’s MOT the other day- track rod ends and a ball joint are easy enough to sort but it also failed on corroded brake lines, mechanic stuck it on his ramp for me and they are well rusted. I’ll get him to sort the pipes and have a go at the other myself

I've not had that for a long time but remember mot failures and the 8-) when new ones were fitted, even with standard bulbs :)
Plastic lights haven't gone like that but I wonder how much they've aged (in whatever way) compared to new ones?

The Yeti would definitely benefit from an arch liner off clean. It doesn't do serious off-road or country track work but it's still been dirty enough to have mud clumped on the struts and in the springs. It'd probably have fallen foul of the "no heavily soiled vehicles" signs at the jetwash if I'd been spotted.

Got a horrendous sounding, headache inducing, overbearingly knackered rear wheel bearing replaced on the A2 derv. Woohoo :D
It was that noisy it was masking the other side starting to go... :x

Getting into the Mercedes last night in pissing rain and a wee drip from around the rear mirror! Not sure if the pan roof seal is maybe done or if the disconnected rear skoosh pipe is to blame as I know water pissed into the boot last time I used that.

Still not located the horn fuse or had a go at the new spindle in the control unit or indeed changed the pita rear plate illumination.

I would be tempted to just get rid and get something newer and less complicated but I am not really drawn to anything, I look at Oc
tavia VRS wagon, Golf R wagon and S4 avants but for the money I am willing to spend I am just not oooing and aaahing.

A small patch has appeared on the ML rear drivers side door. Also after a gate swung into the front bumper a few weeks back it’ll be an expensive paintwork year already. Just to find someone good now.

Dave!

I've had a few wheels that have deteriorated from new in 2.5 years. Probably not a reflection of Lepsons as they have a good reputation.

I'm not sure if it's how they are cleaned or just the salt, heat etc they live in.

Dacia recently powder coated my father's Duster steel wheels as they were starting to pit but Ford and BMW were a pain in the arse with diamond cut wheels starting to go milky under the lacquer!

An excellent day of targa rallying with @Sundayjumper navigating.

Finished up 4th in class (of 10) and 17th overall (of 50). Reasonably pleased with that. Nicely slippery out but an otherwise dry and mostly sunny day.

Top of my class was fairly tight, 1st to 4th split by 22s.

Car behaved itself though my wiper washers have stopped working. No sound of the motor so suspect a fuse rather than the hose having come off. Also my left indicators weren’t working on the way home, but then they did after switching the car off and on again (still no washers though).

The usual event photographer was out so hopefully will get some decent pics of the day. And grabbed a few GPS traces from my Garmin watch. Max speed recorded - a whopping 46mph.

Boxster issue.

Blowing and noise from the back. Thought I'd not looked at the oil for a while. 3.4 bore score 😁

Checked oil, absolutely empty.

Drove around the corner to a more flat place and all was well.

Blowing exhaust fixed. 30 quid.

I have a decat on the back sections. Weak points are the 3 bolts each side going into the manifold which have been drilled and replaced once already. But yes I like your thinking! 😃🍻

Forgot to mention my roof elastic was broked on the nearside - the old not tucking in when raised problem.

Luckily my mates at the garage had the stuff from when they did the divers side so sorted it before I collected today for a princely sum of a FIVER.

I'm sure I'm due a big bill (crosses fingers).
