Whirrs and clicks from the Yeti this morning but no starting. Car Twitter consensus, including a few from here (thanks!), was the battery, and as it's the original one (11 years old) that's reasonable. I unplugged my CTek trickle charger from the Fabia and plugged in into the Yeti. A few hours later - starts no problem. Many recommendations for Tayna Batteries for delivery but I went for a Yuasa one from Halfords and they're going to come over on Friday and fit it for me (as it's cold outside). Got a 10% discount direct from them, then used work's Reward Gateway scheme for another 8% off.

Halfords were so close to anywhere online when I needed a battery that the same day convenience meant they got my money.

I have another wheel question.

The Mustang's rear wheels are 20x10 / ET45. I have found a company in the UK that actually have the wheels I'm after

However, while the wheel size is right, the offset is different. It's +34. Am I right in saying that the 34 will stick out a fair bit more than the 45?

Assuming the same width, they’ll stuck out 11mm further than your current wheels.

Off to test drive a couple of cars next week as having looked into it, a PHEV makes sense as a company car with how cheap they are on tax now.

Going to try a Cupra Fornicator V2 245 PHEV and the same spec Cupra Leon estate (hatch is too small), a Superb with the same powertrain (SE Technology) and a Sportage GTS AWD PHEV.

Looks wise the Formentor is edging it, but the drive is more important so we shall see!

Yeah should look good, all cars look better with a set of spacers.

My Dad had one on lease delivered yesterday (1.5TSI DSG). He loves it and prefers it to the T-Roc and Tiguan he had before. He is 75 though so make of that what you will.

I'm not sure how it will look. The current set at 45+ already sit pretty much flush with the arches...

Mustang forum lot seem to say a 45/50 is ideal for a 10J rim.

Bit of a conundrum. I want those wheel because it's usually impossible finding that style over here. Not sure if I should risk it

Purchase these @Alex88 (or something a smidge smaller like 8mm). Fit them with your current wheels and see how they look. With these in place your standard wheel bolts / studs will possibly have insufficient thread length to hold them on effectively enough to go for a spirited drive - so be cautious- but they should be fine to drop it off the jack and roll it along to make an assessment.

Yeah, those are a different version, there are like 4 or 5 different styles. I'm not that big on them, I prefer steelies on hot rods and muscle cars.

Yeah I liked it. Sounded fantastic too - lumpy V8 as you would expect.

My mate has the exact spec and drivetrain and really likes it. Had just previous model Civic 1.5 Petrol (180bhp) before that. Really cheap to run if you don't get fuel included but worth plugging in anyway so you're not just using the engine's power.

Any EVs available on the scheme? Unless you're doing 200/300 miles a day they must be worth considering for the tax benefits.

@scotta tested one of them relatively recently. Not sure what spec it was.

Everything on list is PHEV this time, fuel card so no benefit to me except for private mileage how efficient they are.

I'll plug it in at home but will only be 3 pin plug, they can't fast charge anyway from what u can gather.

Everything else is boring or too small for dog to fit in boot (330e, Golf GTE, Leon Hatch).

Shame there's no full EV, I'd fancy an IPace or a Polestar 2 if there were.

Is it just me struggling or are the roads ridiculously slippery at the moment.

They chucked shed loads of salt down last weekend despite it not being freezing, no rain to wash it away, and with the damp overnight it just makes a greasy slime.

I’m getting the traction light flashing on 2nd-3rd upshifts in the compact and had a few lairy moments, not all planned. I had to stop the first night and make sure there wasn’t anything stupid going on with my tyre pressures.

Honestly, I’ve had more grip on some of the icy, well below freezing mornings.

Totally fine during the day when things have dried out.

it was just the base model 150 I tested but I really liked it. Had the 300bhp one been able to tow the box there's a good chance one would be parked outside in place of the X5.
