I found this fascinating and regularly watch Sargon and the Thinkery channels (not some much dankula although I've watched a couple of his videos). I think Carl is correct that the old skool media have a particular issue in the fact that the average person on the street doesn't trust them and get a far more balanced view from the various Youtubers (unless of course you are a rabid leftist of course).ZedLeg wrote: Fri Apr 19, 2019 9:32 am Apparently UKIP's latest desperate clutch at relevancy is to go for the shitty youtube edgelord fans. It's a bold move.
We definitely live in an interesting time where we seem to be experiencing a shift from traditional media commentators to the bite-size watch at your own leisure lot and the old guys are definitely being left behind in the dust. I can only see this gap increasing as commentators increase their subscriptions from the hoards of gen Z's that only consume Youtube or Netflix and totally ignore the BBC, CH4, ITV and even Sky as they become interested in the political side of society.
You have to think that these guys bring is several million followers that watch their videos daily and have approached UKIP and not the other way around to ally themselves on that side of the fence. This is quite coop for UKIP as they now have about 20x the youtube viewers of all the other parties combined without doing anything.
Carl.
