Public charging cost needs to reduce significantly as well.
For example, if you charge out and about @80pkw, that about 20p per mile. That's the equivalent costs to a car that does 30mpg.
Add in the longer fill times, and you can understand why people who don't/can't home charge aren't bothered.
I mean, I'm looking to switch to EV this year, but only because of the car, not the drivetrain. I doubt it'll save me any money, even if I charge at home.
Yikes. That's expensive

I probably mentioned it on here already, one of the Ford dealers on Facebook posted about their trip to euro Disney in a new capri.
I worked out it would have cost a similar amount to do the trip in my petrol x5, and spent a lot less time refuelling.
Of course, they won’t make charging cheaper, they’ll just make traditional fuel more expensive.

Charging away from home is ridiculous. If you don't have your own driveway then a Tesla is the only option if you want somewhat reasonable pricing. On other cars if you take into account phantom drain, battery preconditioning then your equivalent MPG will be in the low 20's.

I believe a relation of
@Jobbo’s sells them, I think he had a go in one and said it wasn’t very polished?

He does - he has been selling BYDs for a while now. He brought a Seal round and I had a go in it a year or so ago.
It is polished; felt high quality and good materials inside. It’s just utterly boring to drive.

Knew there was something you weren’t overly impressed on, couldn’t remember what

BMWs so called biggest launch
https://www.pistonheads.com/news/electr ... ange/50269
Also a bit weird, remember when the 7 series was the design flagship and everything was based off that. But now its an iX3. Kinda disappointed though, thought this was an ultra clever car with supercomputers and lots of carbon but it's still 2.4 tonnes nearly with a massive battery. And that's their small SUV. At least the styling is a move in the right direction.

Oh. It's like they styled it then decided the Neue Klasse front end needed to be soft launched on a familiar looking model. It's bizarre on that. I think it'll work quite well on the smaller non-SUV models but it looks too small on the iX3. Rather sadly it is slightly reminiscent of the Vauxhall Mokka front end treatment with a grille added in the middle.

I quite liked when vauxhall were doing those front ends. Reminded me of 80s stereos, they also got really into sticking turbo badges on everything to continue the 80s theme

I always disliked them because they worked so much better with the Opel badge

I scrolled down and just caught a flash of the image and jobbos profile pic, and wondered why on earth he was banging on about vauxhalls.
Which probably says it all about the BMW launch.
Imagine having your styling gazumped by fucking Vauxhall.

Looks VAG to me, at the back. Taigo or Q3 Sportback.

I prefer the Vauxhall. The BMW has one of my pet hates which is those terrible cut off/slab sided arches which makes it look like they're missing a bit bit of trim. Either flare the arches properly or make the massive turd narrower so it can have proper arches
