I love this. Yes, even the bus driver spec steering wheel.

Well, that's something I've never seen before. An estate with a full size sliding roof to make the rear open-topped when required: 1964 Studebaker Daytona Wagonaire

That's quite cool and very practical for that oversize tip run.

It'll be god-awful to drive, but it looks cool.

:D 8-)

You'd need something like this to go with it; https://www.unimogs.co.uk/our-stock/uni ... iler-c0594

They covered those on the motortrend show Junkyard Gold. They look cool but unsurprisingly they leak like a sieve. Apparently quite rare because of the leaking

Still no news on that, so far the body shop won't answer the phone to let me book it in

I keep thinking I want something daft like this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334214071665

My mind goes "wow, 7.3 litres, that'll be awesome" then I look up the specs and:

185 hp (138 kW) @ 3,000 RPM
338 lbâ‹…ft (458 Nâ‹…m) @ 1,800 RPM

Which is barely any better than a BMW 320d:

188 hp (140 kW) @ at 4,000 rpm
300 lbf⋅ft (400 N⋅m) @ 1,750–2,500 rpm

Yeah, the numbers on 80s and early 90s V8s aren't great. Most people end up doing diesel or LS swaps on the big trucks.

Those numbers are comically woeful

And it probably does 8mpg whilst delivering them.

Which reminds me - when I took the VXR8 to hire a 4.2 E-type that was running very rich - I was quite surprised at how painful it was to go from 18mpg to around 11mpg. :?

I take it it's nasp. Not a problem, you'd have to tinker with it anyway; " It has the 7.3 International V8 Diesel engine which we have had running however it has a problem, we left it running for a few minutes and it sounded very good but then the exhaust filled with oil and started smoking so turned it off and have not investigated further."

That seller's got some interesting stuff 8-)

Ebay still continues to deliver (pun noted) interesting people. I have some BMW wheels for sale that are due to end this evening. I've just had this message:

If no one will buy your wheels till end of auction I will may buy them of you tomorrow but before I need to pop up to you and check they will fit to my car . Let me know if this will be possible . I like to pay for them bit less then your asking price

Or: "can I come to you house and mess about trying out the wheels then make an insultingly low offer"

Yes. That looks very well prepped, it’ll be a bargain compared to trying to build the same spec yourself. Just a cage is about £2k fitted.

Question - mate is looking for 'something to do' in his spare time, I suggested targa stuff, but he says he was diagnosed with epilepsy many years ago, and believes anything that requires a doctors sign off (PPL, racing license etc) would be a big no.

Seems a bit much for it's own thread, and my own reading suggests if you've not had an episode for 5/10 years then you can argue that it's not an issue for organised competitive stuff - does the targa stuff need any special licensing beyond your UK driving license?

You need an "RS Clubman" licence, but it's free and you apply online:

https://www.motorsportuk.org/competitor ... n-licence/

I can't remember if there's a medical self-declaration required.
