Re: 2020 LR Defender

I still haven’t seen one in the metal.

There hasn’t been a proper press drive launch yet, so far as I’m aware. When is that due?
Not on sale yet, I reckon you'll see loads once they are.
I loved my XC90 until it ate its own gearbox, but now that the kids are a bit older, I'm more interested in something which can go properly off-road and is reasonably practical - the different seating arrangements of the Defender look really good although I would like to see how roomy it is in the flesh.NotoriousREV wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2020 9:44 am A mate of mine was seriously considering one but by the time he’d specified it up to silly money he decided the interior was too low quality for what he was paying and bought an XC90 instead (he needs a 7 seater rather than an off-roader).
Saw one in Warwick a few weeks ago. Completely undisguised (which is no great surprise) with "prototype vehicle" in white letters across the front.
It’s surprisingly big inside, it’s surprisingly capable and comfortable too. I’m 6ft 2 and I can get myself from the front row to the back row by going between the two front seats.Ascender wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2020 10:25 amI loved my XC90 until it ate its own gearbox, but now that the kids are a bit older, I'm more interested in something which can go properly off-road and is reasonably practical - the different seating arrangements of the Defender look really good although I would like to see how roomy it is in the flesh.NotoriousREV wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2020 9:44 am A mate of mine was seriously considering one but by the time he’d specified it up to silly money he decided the interior was too low quality for what he was paying and bought an XC90 instead (he needs a 7 seater rather than an off-roader).
What colour and where, if you don’t mind me asking?DeskJockey wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2020 1:25 pmSaw one in Warwick a few weeks ago. Completely undisguised (which is no great surprise) with "prototype vehicle" in white letters across the front.
In the coming weeks, so not long now. There was an awesome video posted on the LR Facebook page showing how they abused a few when filming the Bond film
I hope the boot is big but I fear the pictures tell the truth, I really like the idea of one.Orange Cola wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2020 1:30 pmIt’s surprisingly big inside, it’s surprisingly capable and comfortable too. It was dark grey or black I think, saw it on the A425 near St Nicholas' Park. I was walking out of, and it was heading into Warwick.Orange Cola wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2020 1:31 pmWhat colour and where, if you don’t mind me asking?DeskJockey wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2020 1:25 pmSaw one in Warwick a few weeks ago. Is that a 110 or a 90? Don’t forget there are 3 sizes of defender size it may be prudent to reserve judgement until they’re all outV8Granite wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2020 2:05 pm According to www.automobiledimension.com the boot on the new Defender is only 50 litres smaller than our ML.
Hopefully most dealers have some in stock soon for a nose.
Dave!
Wasn’t me then but that’s my area. They’re very striking, I hope you liked itDeskJockey wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2020 2:51 pmIt was dark grey or black I think, saw it on the A425 near St Nicholas' Park. Certainly looked different! Someone over on boatshoes has started a thread on his one. He's JLR too.Orange Cola wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2020 10:09 pmWasn’t me then but that’s my area. I know you’re ex-JLR (never got round to finding you for a coffee, sorry!). There’s been a step change on this car, I’m hoping you will see the effects of that in timedan wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2020 10:29 pm I saw one driving through Bromsgrove with the prototype vehicle sticker on the bonnet too, looked alright.
