2006 is also the switchover to dual row IMS bearing so lower risk than 2005 and earlier, which is good for peace of mind.

Some pics (although this is its pre-finished state and there are some scratches etc that will be touched up before I take delivery).

It is - some pioneer jobby. I know it will hurt resale values etc but tbh the original one is fairly useless and I am quite glad of something to plug my iPhone into.

Nice. I’m not a fan of the rear and prefer the later integrated spoiler, but you didn’t buy it for me so it doesn’t really matter! ;)

I reckon I drive 10mph slower when I have the roof down, I’m curious as to whether you’ll do the same.

Interesting... I’ll let you know! I agree on the integrated spoiler but hey, I’m a man on a budget...

You drive slower with the roof down?

I just turn the music and the heaters up

Looks great condition from what I can tell from the photos. Even the aftermarket stereo is pretty discreet compared to some I've seen.

One thing I would recommend from experience (prompted by the first photo where the frunk hood is unlocked and the keys in the ignition) is locating a 987.2 "shell" for the key(s) These were redesigned with recessed ridges for the buttons which then don't unlock the boots every time you put them in your jeans pockets, allowing people to steal all your stuff.

I think the gubbins inside the key should just fit inside the updated case. The new style ones are black compared to the gen 1 silver.

Tempted to go and have a look at this. Been thinking of a summer car but not decided on whether to spend a little (eg £5k Z4) or a lot (Exige V6). I only have a basic internet knowledge of Boxsters but this looks to be a decent private sale..

eta: ad says MOT Apr 2020, Gov website says Aug this year..

If you're in the Z4/Boxster mindset, don't rule out the SLK55 - it's more of a GT, and the gearbox isn't great, but they sound incredible and go like stink; that engine is awesome.

This one:

is the one I wanted to buy - it's got the Quaife LSD (£2k), the Bilstein suspension, decat - and not mentioned in the ad, but unlikely they've been removed, Kleeman headers and a remap. Wouldn't be suprised if that was knocking on for 400bhp.

Between that and the Boxster 240PP linked, I’d choose the SLK.

Great looking car and that’s a lovely (and rare?) colour.

Horses for courses - the evo reviews at the time praised the Boxster handling but loved the SLK engine iirc. And then there was Clarkson driving the two of them around with the army shooting at him...

Already convinced her to like it with strategic bribery so I think she’s all set there!

Alas the wheels weren’t back from being refurbished (something about needing to dip them twice?) so got to wait until Tuesday I fear. The anticipation is killing me!
