It looks nowt like a Cobra, it you wanted to do that why wouldn't you buy a Cobra rep shell and drop the running gear in?

Guessing a Cobra shell costs much more than Ā£2500 - but not looking shit is pretty priceless isn’t it.

Nah, you can get a brand new rolling chassis for £5k, looks the part too.

I can see why you would use a from an engineering point of view. All the panels including rear quarters are bolt on/off, a complete interior, and a proper factory developed roof.

However, they weren't ever a great drive, and they're surprisingly expensive unless you want a slow 1.9 4parper.

It's also a bit worrying that to fit the front end they have removed the main bumper beam and dampers which link the front end of the two main chassis legs together so even a low speed bump is likely to cause significant damage.

How much would you pay for a hacked up golf with scrapyard running gear?

I'd say £1500 was optimistic myself.

Good points well made. I'd thought of it in terms of how much it'd cost to have someone do the chassis mods, and made the assumption you'd have to tinker with it anyway. No, tinkering doesn't mean replacingeveryfeckinbit.

Looks like some sort of supercharged V8 up front, so it should be OK :)

edit - although it sure as hell isn't chucking out 500 bhp on an s/c Rover V8 boat anchor.
