I bought this at the weekend. I fucking love it. Absolute hooligan of a bike and makes me grin riding it even on the driveway, can't wait to take out into the woods a bit soon.
Looks well tasty Dave - I'm guessing the battery is integrated?
What's the bluetooth bit do?

The Evo forum really is a shadow of its former self. I remember when the internet was for the elite and now they seem to let any spastic on
Bluetooth allows pairing to an app on your phone. Among many clever bits you can actually program it to say 'this ride is 60km' or 'this ride is 2hrs, 20mins' and it will balance the power and assist out as needed to get you to the end, like a ride and forget system. Lots of analysis stuff too.
As for jumps, it jumps well. But as to comparing it against others, honestly personally I've no idea. This is my first full suspension bike and it's my first proper foray into getting back into biking in some time. Cars, emigrating, life and quite serious asthma have meant I haven't really got into it for years compared to the regular riding I was doing through my teens and into my twenties. Bikes have changed a lot so I'm relearning a lot of things. This is basically the only way I'm gonna get back out into it due to the asthma/fitness barrier without it being too hard work and me not bothering again. But back to the jumping, the best thing I can say is that everyone I know who does ride speaks highly of this new 2019 model, the XC race nutter sales person was giving me the you're fat and unfit' look when I was checking out last year's bike, but this new one he's ordered for himself saying "I just don't see why anyone would buy a normal trail bike any more." Regular rider in my team took it for a spin and gave it back saying "I don't wanna know anymore, I can't afford it" Most of the mags are claiming it rides downhill as well as any enduro bike and you can't really tell the difference.
All those things swung me. I'm hoping to just enjoy it more and more.

I'm not a big jumper Rich (so you'll never find me at Tidworth FreeRide), but I like to get a bit of air whenever possible. In my experience, they are brilliant. As they're so heavy, they super stable & most decent ones come with really good suspension tuned for the extra weight. Getting extra speed is not an issue on one anyway.
Think of them like a downhill/enduro bike that's super easy to pedal on the trails & uphill, & you won't be too far away.

Missed that bit - yes the battery is within the downtube and comes out downwards just in front of the motor. So you put it on a stand or flip it over to remove. 500WH or 700WH depending on the version.

i think that is exactly the potential issue though - physically getting the extra speed wouldn’t be an issue, but having to have extra speed and deal with it mentally and braking/etc would/could be.
Like giving a 400bhp car another 200bhp and saying you can now go much faster through eau rouge, so why aren’t you?
I need to have a go on one by the sounds of it, these questions are quite subjective!

but this new one he's ordered for himself
That old chestnut...
Just kidding - lovely bit of kit - I would love one but, like the drone, I reckon it would be good for a few trips out and then get resigned to the back of the Garage...
Still, going up to Snowdonia in a few weeks - might see about renting one for a few hours

I say this rarely Dave, but listen to Dinny because he's right.

Definitely try one for sure. You might love it, or equally, hate it. I reckon Swinley would be a laugh, but I'd imaging somewhere like Cwymcarn is somewhere they'd really shine, as you've got a real long technical goat trail climb straight out of the car park.

As much as I love going down, I take enormous satisfaction in clearing techy climbs. It becomes especially more technical when you're traveling 3 times as fast.

Try riding up for once

10+ runs down in a day or probably 2-3 runs up and down. Nah, I’m alright!
I couldn’t give two shits about riding up - it’s just a necessary evil for me - best avoided.

Sounds like an eBike is not for you then.
Not for a bike park with an uplift - but I’d still like to see how one would get on at a local trail (with jumps). As I said earlier, I saw one at Rogate which was very successful at getting more runs in (especially with a nipper).
I've hankered after a full suspension replacement for my Cube hard tail, but prices seem mental now.
Where should I start looking for a half decent full sus bike?
It's really for general trail riding/comfort etc rather than downhill nuttery. I'm not especially good on a bike (I have very poor balance and coordination) so I'm not going fast and doing "clever things" but I love being out on a bike (I've not been without a bike, since I first had one aged about 4).
Any guidance would be appreciated (and would help me blow a recent, small bonus too!)
I shunned the snobbery & bought a Boardman FS Pro a few years ago for £1150.00. The standard kit was great & will certainly do trails & scary stuff with ease. Downside is it's a bit heavy (with bikes, when weight goes down, the price rockets) so you might want to look at something else, maybe 2nd hand? My mate just picked up a carbon Cube 29"er with 140mm suspension all round for £800.00. Yeah, he's in the trade so got it cheap, but there are bargains out there. A bike like that'd be your best bet I reckon.
They sound horribly expensive. I'm not really into cycling, it's just the form of exercise I find least hateful. I shall investigate their RRP and report back, possibly scornfully.
