The chap who caused Alistair Stewart to resign was black and offended on his own behalf, Katie Hopkins is the one who is offensive, not the offended, and those that point out something is offensive even if it isn’t offensive to them personally are the empathetic ones. HTH.nuttinnew wrote: Mon May 18, 2020 11:39 pm In the example you give, assuming the offended person is an empathetic human being aware of the feelings of the other people and basically their spokesperson that they've appointed, I agree. Put a narcissist in their place and things are different. They'd say they're offended on someone else's behalf whether or not there was any offence or the someone else was offended because it wouldn't be about righting wrongs, it would be all about them and what they can gain from it. The boy who cried wolf. The chap who caused Alastair Stewart to resign in January. Katie Hopkins. People who say "I'm not offended personally, but..." (is that cultural appropriation?). I'm sure you can think of other - and probably better - examples than I can remember.

People seem to be really struggling with a simple concept. It’s almost like they’re offended at the thought of not being allowed to be offensive

9 times out of 10 people who complain about everyone being too offended these days or freedom of speech just wants to be able to tell shitty jokes
An absolute unit
Re: Elon Musk/Tesla
If, for example, someone were to say that they found this entire thread offensive, would it make it stop?
Asking for a friend.

Nope, someone would just call you a snowflake and keep repeating their point over and over
Snowflake

I’m not personally offended by the term snowflake, but my friend is.

No, I’m fully aware you just want to get away with being offensive and hate being called out for it.nuttinnew wrote: Tue May 19, 2020 5:29 pmYou particularly. Hth.NotoriousREV wrote: Tue May 19, 2020 9:13 am People seem to be really struggling with a simple concept.

I’ll say it again: the only people that seriously use the phrase “getting offended on someone else’s behalf” are those that feel they should be able to say something offensive as long as there’s no one around from the group they’re offending. Nothing can change my mind on that one. Literally nothing.Rich B wrote: Tue May 19, 2020 6:00 pm Nuttinew does always comes across as a nasty offensive person on here.... err...
The very fact he’s put so much effort into defending his right to use the phrase tells me everything I need to know.
