I mean SJ did say £25k deposit. Rest to pay on collection ;)

I guess £30k would cover a leggy S1 and a HPE conversion. Is another £5-10k for suspension, brakes and other ‘stuff’ reasonable?

Without trying to speak for Dan, I understand it is from £15.5k+vat. Which presumably gets you a rebuilt standard spec engine. I suspect most (all?) customers seek some upgrades for moh powah, which will require moh dollars.

Cost me about £3.5k to overhaul my suspension on my S2 including Nitrons, Spitfire toe links, bushes, etc and everything cleaned and shotblasted (with HPE).

But that was years ago, so probably more like 5-6k now just for that alone. Plus brakes, plus engine work, plus the other fancy shiny bits.

It's an expensive game!

Depends what bearings / toe links / dampers etc you get obviously, but I'd say you're in the right ballpark there. Thankfully my S2 Billies cleaned up ok so I stuck with them, and I do actually quite like them so I'm not sure I'm in a hurry to change.

I wish it was twice the price nowadays 🤣

I don’t do many bone stock builds, most folks want a little more, some want a lot more….ive built 200 - 650hp in the past :D

Duncs, take Rich out in your Elise and then he can stop faffing about, buy a base Elise and then Dan can get busy on the conversion  8-)

Just came across this as I was looking for something else - so I thought I'd share it. No idea if it's already visible on any other platform.

I can't remember where we landed.

edit: also - it's the 111R (with an extra 30-odd bhp over std) that JayEmm voted against in video Scott linked on page1.

I hate to dump on the Lotus love in but I struggle to see the value in a near 20 year old car with a four cylinder motor and kit car interior with wires hanging out and an incorrect odometer at £25k.

I think what I find hard as well is the V6 Exige (which is what I'd buy) looks so much better and has so much more performance and is 7 years old not 20. Yes, its £40k ish rather than £25k but I'd then have to justify buying the Elise because I didn't want to spend more and if I were doing that... well then £25k is still too much.

Obviously different strokes for different folks I guess.

Dump away. I don't care if you or Rich buy it. :)

Personally I'd fancy an early V6 Exige too. With 2bular manifolds to release some extra horsies. But they are at least 60% over the stated budget, so....
