Apparently they mirroed my NCB to the 4C, and as I completed a full year that now shows as full :?: He said he's happy to send me proof of that, so all good.
Rich B wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2024 3:16 pm More importantly, what spec/colour Giulia?
2019, in Trofeo White - similar to my old GTA in that pearl white. My idea spec is Comp Red with the carbon seats, but I'd need to go for the MY17, which lacks a few things and I'd prefer a newer model.

I was looking for the mild facelift (MY20) as the interior is nicer, but not only is it really pushing my budget, but they also increased the refinement (thicker glass, more sound proofing and the like) dialed back the steering rack and a few other things - plus they made some standard things optional, like the carbon roof (2k)

It's not a done deal yet, though. Private sale so ideally need an inspection.
nice, not a million miles away from my Hockenheim silver to be honest! It looked fantastic on your old 147, but I think id have to hold out for Rosso comp though!

mik wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2024 5:20 pm Sounds nice - I do like the QV. Bloke up here that organised the visit to M-Sport had one in the same hue.
I gave up on the Evora - mainly due to lack of any real options for my budget. Then after I'd made my mind up to switch to the Giulia, Jon Seal listed a really nice example at a great price; I figured it'd sell within a week and it's still for sale after three weeks! I saw two private examples sell for £45k and 48k, and a respected dealer can't sell one for £40k?

I do wonder if people just can't be bothered to travel and just buy whatevers near them.

I can only speak for myself, but yes. I don’t have the time or energy to spend weeks traipsing around the country looking at cars.

That possibly works if you're dahn sahrf. Last few cars I've purchased were located in Southampton, Chelmsford, Reading, Edinburgh.

You only need eBay and a bottle of wine to find one.

More money for Admiral I guess.
Renewal received from Admiral. Just the 911 & 360 as everything else was with Reis.

I’ll just transfer the MINI for now, then add whatever I buy to replace the Bentley/Range Rover/Cayenne. Likely a BMW of some kind.

Cheaper than last year as an opener? That's a win. Does feel like Admiral are the only company who are trying to get business currently, but when they are so out of step with everyone else it feels a bit of a too good to be true situation.

And interestingly I’ve just had a call from Reis ! Slightly desperate sounding, to say that if I renew the Compact with them they will cover a road car too and wanted to discuss which one would be best to insure with them.

I explained that I have five road cars to insure and it’s better for me to keep them all in one place. And I’ve not used the Compact in over a year so I’ll reinsure it if/when I need it, not right now.

I felt a bit sorry for the person on the phone, it’s not their fault their management is doing this to the business model, and they’re probably quite aware of what will soon happen to their job if the company is haemorrhaging customers the way I imagine it is right now.

I've added the 530d to the policy, the increased multicar discount somehow dropped the 996 premium by just over 20%. Insurance is weird

I wonder if insurance premium algorithms are a bit like social media algos. They're comprised of millions of lines of code that have been developed over so many years that nobody really quite understands what's happening in there. They just keep on editing and adding adjustments to it which roughly acheive what they hoped and it ends up with slightly weird side-effects like that too.

I've been looking at cheap 996 Carrera 4's and they're cheaper to insure than the XF is, I don't get car insurance prices.

I suppose they're similar value cars both new and used, but 911 panels etcs are a lot more than Jag parts O.E so I'd have thought it would be more to insure.

Still think it's a dice roll.

Recently sorted my insurance.....£790 for the 500bhp RWD card that can be stolen in 15 seconds, against £520 for the "dangerously remapped" city car that no one's ever stolen before.

996s do seem weirdly cheap. IIRC Carlos had some incredibly cheap quotes for his teenage daughter.

Last year’s policy was £434.

This year’s on a newer model A5 and a newer model named driver GF: £529

Not as bad as I was expecting.

Offered a loan of a mate's Bentley for a run to Scotland but running into the same issue as before of none of the short term insurance people being willing to cover it. Any ideas?

Can he add you to his policy?

I had the same issue with SJ’s cars, I couldn’t get short term insurance, but IIRC there was minimal or zero cost to add me as a named driver

Easiest way is for your mate to see how much it costs to add you to his policy. Might be £50 might be £500.

It was zero extra cost when I took out the policy, but it might have been because it’s a family member.

So if I first marry him, it might be cost neutral. Nice one.
