I barely ever wear a seatbelt when I'm in an Uber/taxi. It never enters my head unless I'm sharing and someone else does.integrale_evo wrote: Sat Jan 21, 2023 2:44 pm I bet the vast majority of people sat in the back of expensive cars getting driven around aren’t wearing a seatbelt, I bet a lot of us have had drunken taxi rides home without one, and I bet most of us know someone who doesn’t wear one.
Yes he should have, yes it was stupid, does anyone actually care that much?

this. He's asking us to trust his judgement and represent us all on important decisions that may require our sacrifices, yet he's too stupid to realise that breaking the law on camera is an issue.Mito Man wrote: Sat Jan 21, 2023 3:23 pm For me it calls into question his decision making abilities. He’s in a pretty comfortable environment so to make such an error of judgement is pretty poor.
Also doesn’t help alleviate the public image he has of an extremely wealthy person who gets chauffeured everywhere, can’t refuel a car or know how to pay for anything himself and seemingly lives by his own rules.

As for seat belts: if there's one, I'll use it. Foolish not to.

Would everyone be crying whilst wanking over their copy of the daily Mail if he got caught speeding at 78mph on the motorway?
I assume everyone here who has been caught speeding or for another minor motoring offence has had their management skills and ability to do their job called into question.

He made a very small simple mistake and it’s beyond reason that people think it’s indicative of his ability to do his job. It’s like saying that any surgeon who has knocked over a drink is too clumsy to practice and should never be allowed to pick up a scalpel again.
FWIW I think the tories are largely doing an awful job. But this error by Sunak is insignificant.

I'm in the 'who cares' camp, it's irrelevant to the rest of his job, and I rarely belt up in the back of a taxi in truth.
I actually think it's an opportunity missed for Labour, they're obviously given a platform and the journalists want to be given a soundbite on how outrageous it is, I'd be saying "I'm not interested in this, I want to talk about how bad X or Y policy is". Sadly as with all politics now, less and less of it is proper policy discussion.

if he was recording a statement with a video of his Speedo clearly showing he was speeding, then yes - I'd call his judgement into question.integrale_evo wrote: Sun Jan 22, 2023 11:50 am Would everyone be crying whilst wanking over their copy of the daily Mail if he got caught speeding at 78mph on the motorway?

Does anyone give such a shit every time they see a politician not wearing a seatbelt? They regularly don't bother. See also the Royals.
Re: Bye Bye Sunak..
Politicians get driven around in cars all the time, basically a posh taxi. How many people don’t wear a seatbelt in a taxi?
The biggest problem here isn’t the seatbelt. It’s that he was dumb enough to film himself not wearing a seatbelt

Re: Bye Bye Sunak..
He breached the ministerial code, and was sacked as a minister. You can’t easily be removed as an MP, even if the MP wants to go.Rich B wrote: Sun Jan 29, 2023 2:43 pm But he remains an MP... something is VERY messed up with our system.
Does still feel inappropriate for the self-admitted tax evader to stay on as MP though. He was my MP at my previous home.
Re: Bye Bye Sunak..
OK, not Sunak directly but his front bench being retarded again, in case you've missed it.
