That XSi was great. Just something about it I liked much more than the GTi-6 I had later.

Duncs yes, of course! In fact I have finally cancelled Evo in protest after the manual gearbox worship called ECOTY 2020.
(Plus of course there was the joke that the digital edition became last year)

That XSi was great. Just something about it I liked much more than the GTi-6 I had later.

5-speed box? I always felt the Xsata VTS with the 5spd far better suited the engine than the 6spd the GTI-6 had. That just seemed like a marketing ploy to me. ISTR we may have agreed on this many moons ago.

Yes I agree. 6th in the GTi-6 was lower geared than 5th in the XSi and both engines were so flexible that it really wasn't necessary.

(Plus it meant you couldn't turn left properly )

That car was the first I chose and bought with my own money (following a handed down Metro) so probably felt more special than any other I have had.
