I used to be in distance of Mays Garage at Heslerton, and have serious trust with that lad, but he's 70 miles away now so it's not reasonable to take stuff to him any more.
That said at this rate it's tempting to see if I can borrow one of his cars for a week while he just fixes shit on my one...

Finally, some silence. No more rattling noise coming through the cabin.
It only took 3 of us to randomly bang on panels and keep opening/shutting the boot to find a bolt that needed a final half-turn to be stop the rattle. Thing is, it was a bolt nowhere near where the sound was coming from, as the noise was clearly coming from directly behind the bumper...turns out it was where the middle undertray bolts to the rear diffuser.
Now if I can just fix the Bluetooth adaptor so I can finally switch the exhaust valve again...it'll be good to go.
Random upskirt shot:

This is all why I do all my own work wherever possible. I just don’t trust “people”. I’ve seen far too many bad jobs by professionals.
For balance though, a couple of places I do trust are:
Northway (Porsche specialist)
Halfords Autocentre Sandhurst for MOTs (I’ve never used them for anything else)

Pre MOT, one of the washer jets wasn’t working on the Fabia. Pulled the scuttle trim back (pop goes a clip) and the hose - which I’d previously attached - was detached. Now attached, again, and squirts stuff, hopefully at least until Tuesday.

The Scimitar is sold, pending payment. I managed to get exactly the same price as I paid nearly two years ago.
I don't have space to keep it garaged so it's been living at my parents' place. I can't even remember the last time I drove it. Last year probably. My parents have used it far more than I have.
So it made total made sense for my Dad to take legal ownership of it. I can still borrow it any time I want

Wooden makeshift ramps have been my go-to ever since the Elise and Evora
I've got some proper metal ramps, but there is zero throttle modulation on the 4C, being an auto - so trying not to launch it off the end was proving difficult...

I knew before I read it that you'd sold it to your dad. Makes perfect sense.

You shouldn’t make assumptions about Steve’s dad Beano.

Not really a running report but a car-related day out. I spent today at the Vintage Sports Car Club’s driving tests at Madresfield. Gorgeous day and location, and some lovely pre-1940 entrants. I was with a friend who has a 1929 Ford Model A.
The Motorsport Is Dangerous signs felt a bit incongruous when nobody was even wearing helmets and the tests were all on a straight driveway but it was really fun; the pork chop in particular was very entertaining to watch.

To be fair, it's a pretty niche car and I doubt anyone would be interested without already knowing a fair bit about them.
It's not like selling a BMW. That is HORRIBLE.

Yeah, if you want a valuation of £700 that they'll knock down further....
Edit, ha, no it's £1470 and technically it's older than they'll accept - 02, not 52 plate

Mini - oil filter housing leak apparently. Its says 4 to 5 hours to fix - watched a tube vid of a guy taking his mini apart in a different way in 60 mins.
Boxster - only 200 quids to repair the panel. Person said she will pay

Went to retrorides, got parked on an uneven bit of ground which helped the wheel fitment, but only on one side
Amazing how many people ask if it’s an aftermarket retrim
A subtle nod to the 90s modifying scene without being ott…
Finally decided on the headunit I wanted, which will hopefully arrive from Germany soon. Including customs fees

Fido Dido. Quite the blast from the past that one! Is the head unit a secret?

No point posting too much until it turns up, then there will be lots of nerdy details I’m sure

New front spoiler and various supporting brackets and fixtures ordered (£1139.69!

) and should be here tomorrow. Don't think I'm going to get time to fit it in time for Porsches On The Park on Sunday, but it's something that's been bugging me since I got the car and it'll be good to get it sorted.
