Seems slightly overpriced, but I'm no specialist. What do y'all reckon?
Those S1s are just so perfect aren't they? I can't remember a first-gen car I've driven like that which absolutely does what you expect it to and doesn't disappoint in any way. Its also one of the few cars I've only driven a handful of times where I can vividly remember everything about it - how the gearshift & steering felt, even down to how it smelled (which is maybe a bit weird).

Thanks for your replies. The consensus seems to be that one should put 25K CASH on the table and drive it home. Got it.

Autocar recently had a bit for the Freelander's 25th; https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/feat ... aby-landie

The last Maestro Van I saw was a beige camper; it could have been ahead of the game as an overlander.

No reference to Pathfinder in that article - see here for far more detail: https://www.aronline.co.uk/concepts-and ... athfinder/

Pathfinder was the name which was used to refer to it in the various Car scoop articles over the years. Going back to the 1980s, even:

Aye, both mid-engined as per Zed’s criteria 😂

A few years before, they’d called the Uno Turbo and 205 GTI ‘small supercars’ so it’s nothing new…

Plus the Cizeta v F40 v 959 v Countach 8-)

As good as they are, I don't know about the Uno and 205 being small supercars :?

I take it you're currently browsing through your stash :D

No, purely from memory - that was a golden era of car mags 😎

I think the only early Car I had was the 959 vs f40 issue.

Unfortunately as a child I cut out lots of the pictures to decorate my school books / folders making it unreadable

Edit, July 1988, I can still remember most of what was in it, I would have just turned 8, probably got it to take on holiday or something.

Your photographic memory uploads well :P
I try not to look back with ye tinted glasses but less traffic and no speed cameras made for drives & road trips that couldn't be replicated today. I should probably read some old ones to see how the writing compares to current.

Easy to find when you remember the issue well 😄
I spent quite a lot of time in the 1990s finding the roads recommended in Phil Llewellyn’s Route Master series. One of the first things I scanned 20-odd years ago. Speed cameras were a novelty then; few and far between and generally in sensible locations.

Every now and then I realise there are still less-trafficked areas in southern England. Harry’s testing road, venue of many an Evo meet 15-20 years ago, for instance. Which I found from a late 1980s Clarkson article.

It would definitely be overpriced for the UK IMO. I'd expect under £20k.

Idly looking at Auto Trader I spotted an Audi S7 which has had 4 owners in just over 2 years. Advert doesn't say much, just "There is no ptoblem with the car, Smoke free, Pet free, Full service history, Recent MOT Black, 4 owners"
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... 4214865925

There is something wrong with it - the gel numberplates and particularly the rear one which has gone wrong

I always assumed these shit plates were a normal printed plate underneath but with the letters stuck over the top, but nope.

Saw a video recently where monkeys at a safari park had stolen some of the letters off one

Yep, the BiTDI with an electric assisted turbocharger for 347bhp and sold in the S4, S6 and S7 of this generation. Hence me looking at them but I'd rather have a Merc E400d I think.
