I shall share this before someone else does

Bastard has even used my most hated ultra pukeworthy advertising campaign (for Patek Philippe).

Have you seen the new Black Series Alpinist that's just been announced?

Ooh, oh, er... I already have two Alpinists and I like my Black Series Speedtimer but I do still like that. Oh heck.

I'm personally not a huge fan of black watches

Or rather I think it's the black bracelets I don't like

The actual watch (the Alpinist) looks good IMO

Think I'd prefer it on a rubber/NATO though

There's always one more watch eh @Jobbo

I was about to say that earlier. Black bracelets don't work for me either - think they generally look better on black leather.

I have my Chris Ward C1000CE on a leather/rubber Hirsch at the moment.

All watches look better on a strap than a bracelet. And are more comfortable. Hence I’ve ordered a strap for my Speedtimer.

Put the strap I ordered on my Speedtimer. Just matte black, but it doesn’t work at all; the colour of the IP coating on the watch isn’t simply black, it has a sort of burnished hue. I’ve tried another black leather strap that I’ve had for years which didn’t suit it - colour was fine but polished leather didn’t go.

I think plenty of NATOs would suit it but I want to find a leather strap. Not that keen on rally straps so I might try a sailcloth or carbon-effect one.

Mildly amusing vid.

You never actually own ten thousand Timex's. You merely look after them for the next generation.

My latest addition from San Martin - these guys are killing it

Seiko NH34, GMT, beautiful understated matt aluminium bezel, usual great finishing etc

Loving this (although it's a bit bigger than most of mine at 40mm)

Nice. I was about to say that's a smidge smaller than I would want (42 is usually my aim-point) but great for the price. 8-)

Too small for me too, but it looks nicely put together.

I quite like this and at 42mm it's bob-on for me. Need a better image of the dial detail - not so keen if it is just painted wigglies.....

Not that keen on the bracelet, but it is at least consistent to the watch it's an - ahem - an homage to.

That's too close to the inspiration for my liking.

Too direct a copy for my liking. However, I've been wearing my (previous gen) Seamaster 300M for the last couple of weeks and am now reluctant to put on anything else. It's a nice enough watch, comfy, keeps good time etc but it's all down the crystal and legibility. The sapphire is almost invisible from pretty much any angle; the AR coating is clearly very good. I don't think Rolex offer the same sort of AR on any of their watches.

No one impressed enough by anything released at Watches and Wonders to post about it? I think the Black Bay 54 (37mm, design based on the 1954 Tudor/Rolex Submariner) looks great. I'm sure it will be too small for most people, but for me the smaller the better when it comes to watches. But there's been a lot of Tudors recently that I loved when they launch (BB58 Silver , BB Pro, BB Chrono, Ranger) but that I feel meh about soon after.

The effect will be somewhat reduced when it's wrapped around a wrist...

Every time you try and operate these weird black controls that are labeled in black on a black background, a little black light lights up in black to let you know you’ve done it
