It was cooler in the Pilbara in Western Australia than here, Perth was a lovely temp.

Still, it's just a bit warm, no weather warnings needed just a few radio and tv pieces saying drink more water.

When we are on site in the summer we go through 12 litres of water and another litre or two of electrolytes in other bottles. You end up with a pot belly as your body struggles to absorb what it needs. Highest temp there was low 50s and mid 60s in the engine hall.

Also the cheaper units are a bit limp and only worth using on small rooms. I have a Homcom 9000Btu unit in my office which is a pretty small room 1.7m x 2.4m (albeit with 3m ceilings) and the aircon unit will keep the temp around 8-10ºC below outside temp. That is a massive help, but means it's still going to hit 25 or so in here, despite having the aircon on all day. It does feel cooler than that, because there's a blast of cold air whizzing past me.

Anyway, I gotta be honest, this is the first time with this kind of weather where I'm waking up feeling absolutely exhausted the humidity last night was mental. I've got a lodger who moved from Punjab to the UK a few years ago and he's suffering too the weather in London these next few days is similar to Punjab except they have everything air conditioned, we don't.

You put an air outlet hose to outside via a window and they are just a mini air conditioning unit. Part of the refrigeration cycle that air conditioning uses is for the refrigerant to reject heat via the condenser, so they blow air onto the condenser and send the heat outside

Because it’s the middle of winter there ! My wife has family in Perth. December/January is horrible.

My mate in Melbourne is griping about the weather right now, it's 15ºC during the day and going as cold as 6ºC overnight, he's missing the UK because our homes are better suited to those temps than Aus

Last night was horrific and today isn't going to be much better

Have to get to London tomorrow for a course in the Regents Park area. I think driving and parking is the best option but tricky to find decent parking there.

Half the trains are cancelled and only the slow ones left - it's a gamble, either the trains will be deserted because everyone has heeded travel warnings and is working from home, or they will be rammed because everyone has to travel anyway and have crammed onto the uncancelled trains!

What seems a bit mad to me is that Friday is actually forecast to be hotter than Thursday in some places but does not seem to have attracted the same restrictions.

People reporting all kinds of local disruption on the trains e.g. overground too. Deffo drive if you can for reliability, also for the aircon. In case you don't already use it, I'd reccomend https://www.justpark.com/ to find and book parking in advance

A friend is in Brussels just now, they’re seeing local temps in the low 40s. Says it’s intolerable.

Intake air temp on my laptop (before it gets warmed up by the guts of it) is 32degC

That's savage make sure you drink insane amounts of water. I did a sweat measurement while zone 2 running a few weeks ago, when we had that 35ºC day and at that kind of temperature I lose 2 litres of fluids per hour

Don't forget the salts too - yes, I saw your vid

When running both smokers in an Aussie summer I could easily have 6+ litres a day and not piss once. At night I'd get horrendous cramps in my legs.
Fixed with adding hydrolyte and lipton iced tea powder to the water.
