This may be the forum’s first fleet coffee machine.
It gets used more than my car does.
Looks big enough that it may require to live in the garage?

This is highly irregular and I'm not sure I agree with it. Can't we have a "Your Coffee Machine Running Reports" to ease my OCD?

New rear box fitted to the mx5, slightly deeper sound and I prefer the single outlet to the twin pea shooters as standard. It’s very well made and much lighter than standard too, love how the hangers are made of thinner steel to save weight then widen at the ends that fit through the rubber mounts.

Hopefully getting the car back today, still sans MOT, unless they charged the battery up and that fixed the mystery rear light issue and unless they deliberatley didn't put the front lower arm bushes on the last fail sheet

If not, then I guess I'll be doing some auto-spark stuff this weekend to try to find a bad earth etc.

Ho hum.

Mini must have bashed the underneath on something as loads of oil. In garage to be inspected on Monday.

Boxster found a note on windscreen apologising for bashing the rear nearside.😁

I’ve had an interesting day. I try to be less of a cunt and help out but I honestly don’t know why I bother.
So an adjacent woodland owner was on about his tracks being too narrow and scratching his car and he got some pretty silly quotes to cut it back. £800 ish. So I said I can do it for him one weekend. Shouldn’t take more than 2 hours from setting off from home and being back.

So onto the simple task of loading the tractor on the trailer which I have never needed to do before. The bastard was 1cm too wide to fit on the plant trailer so I try the car transporter and it’s too narrow
Image feck.

Back to the plant trailer and time to remove bits till it fits
Image

Still didn’t fit as it was too long so I gave it the Colin Chapman treatment
Image

Finally got it to fit. In reverse. I think it’s better to gloss past trailer tongue weights but the handling was interesting. Not as interesting as the tractor though which was doing wheelies on demand.

By now this simple 2 hour job is 5 hours in. I get to the woods and mow the track, do 4 passes and even accounting for overlap it’s at least 5 metres wide. And I have it on the low setting so the surface is perfect with all the ruts, mole hills etc removed. You can put a layer of tarmac on this and run a F1 race on it it’s that smooth. Basically I’m pretty fucking pleased.

So this ungrateful cunt comes out and tells me “I think I’ll still call the contractor - he has a 90 degree flail so he can get the odd branches and brambles which are still sticking out”
Fecking lazy cunt, would take 15 minutes with some secateurs to sort out 🙄

Oh, I got the car back. They fitted the caliper, brakes and pads and replaced a hard brake line that was weeping.

They didn't replace the flexi hoses though. And shock horror, the front brakes are still dragging, just slightly less. Probably because the old ones are fucked and swelling internally - why do you think I wanted them changed you fucking morons.

So don't bother with SJM Motors in Pudsey, they can't follow basic instructions. Three hundred fucking quid overall including an MOT, one failure of which was the rear lights interfering with each other.

I had a look last night in the dark - if you put the hazards on with the lights, there's a barely perceptible dimming of the other rear lights. Which was gone after I left the car to idle for 15mins to get some charge in the old battery. Fucking useless.

Finding a decent garage is a bloody nightmare. The place I usually use was busy last time, but I think I'll send it back to them to do the last follow up work and get the car back on the road properly.

Next time I move house, I'm defnitely getting somewhere with, at minimum, a driveway and enough storage for a decent tool collection, so I can do this shit myself, with the right tools, and not be crawling under the car on the side of the road. I'm sick to the back teeth of this shite.

I need the car legal for next monday afternoon for less than £300 so I'm hoping my usual place can be 'understanding' on some parts and just get the thing on the road, then I'll chuck 'em some simple work (all fluid change, etc) as a thankyou so they can add some margin to the fluids

After that though, I'll speak to your lads. Not having a second car is a PITA though

I do everything on my cars myself, and it feels very alien trusting someone else with them, however warranty stuff and MOTs, I can't do myself.

I've known Ben 20 years, we were both apprentices together, and I'd trust him with any car.

It's good to have a trusted place, I'm not sure how I'd manage without it!
