@Rich B - Have you considered winter wheels & tyres for your M2? I've run M cars through the winter before, but none have been as easy as this one to break traction in the dry, so am just thinking it might be a worthwhile purchase.

the supersports are totally useless over winter - so it would be a good candidate for winter tyres. I just put up with it though - can't be arsed with the expense of having another set.

This is the first car I've had in a long time where its easy to get the rear loose in the dry, so I was considering a set of smaller wheels and tyres - just put them on in November or so through to spring. And if I could get a set which would also fit an M3, its probably worth the investment.

We've spoken about this before, but for the benefit of Mike - I ran the Evora on Supersports for a couple of winters. Not recommended. Very much like driving on bars of soap whenever the temperature drops below 5 DegC.

If you can't be bothered constantly swapping between full winters and summers, you'll be pleased to know that the PS4S (available in 19" now) is as capable as the SuperSport in the dry, but waaaay better in cool conditions. (I am not trying to suggest they could match a proper winter tyre on ice or snow, but they are a far better year-round prospect. I keep a pair of snow-socks in the boot should I ever get stuck in proper snow and wish to understeer into the next available solid object).

Finished the passenger side door repair on the 928. Last long run I did, I noticed the engine temp was rather high. The other day, I noticed only one of the two fans was actually running. This is a common issue on later 928s (S4 onwards) and is due to a failure in the final output stage controller and is almost certainly the cause of the hot running. I confirmed the fan is actually working by jumping a couple of pins on the connector. Sent it off to JDS Porsche who repair 928 ECUs and various modules and he reckons he should have it back to me by the end of this week.

My new engine mounts and other goodies are still stuck in customs in Coventry according to USPS' website.

Still struggling to fix the ML Air-Con issue.

The front pulley, harmonic damper, needs changing though as that is failing, so a new bolt and pulley arriving on Wednesday and will get it fitted.

Bit bored of cars in general at the minute though sadly.

Wife just called that the Galaxy had overheated and she was stuck on a hill. Luckily it was not far and I've got a spare fan control module in the boot. Fitted it and the fans kicked in. That's the third module in two years.

Yesterday I actually did some whizzing about for work in the mini which was good fun surprisingly. At night popped out to the shops with the top down on the boxster and thought you know what I still like it especially now niggles like the roof elastic not positioning the top sides back properly have been fixed.

Danger of changing your cars is a new list of niggles.

Mini is in for 4 new super spec Kumho Ecsta PS71 later this week as the toyos have cracked and are generally fucked after 5 years,

I was pulled for a small front plate on the VXR8, but they backed off when I explained it wasn’t uK type-approved and the plate met all the import regs. (Which I pulled out of my glove box and handed to him). One of the two coolers was feckin furious at that mind).

It’s easier to make your plate short if you buy a registration with fewer characters. And remain legal.

Nope, never. Same on the 996, same on the Clubman, and same on the motorbike.

The plate on the Aston is actually smaller than intended, I messed up the order and never got around to buying a different one. 996 is a stick-on one. Motorbike plate was small *and* a tiny bit mis-spaced. I should be locked up.

Clubman plate is only slightly smaller. Possibly not even noticeably small unless you’re a CG, or it’s right next to a real one.
