My boys collect them. Which ones have you got?

I've got the Black Pearl and the Endurance to build, along with a few other sets. Our Lego cabinets in the play room are full so will have to be clever with arranging stuff.

The ships will go in light up display cases but I'm yet to decide on which one. I won't build till I have a case as I want it finger print and dust free when they go in.

Dave!

Yes I saw that and it was pretty much my reaction. They really are nailing the 'pander to middle aged people with disposable cash' angle very well these days...

This arrived in time for my stay-cation. 8-)

I actually ordered a different set on amazon months ago but the delivery date keeps going back (I assume it will never come) and I wanted a set that would be here while I'm off work so even though I'd looked at it before and was a bit meh about it, it was on discount, will make a good stable mate for my other GT40 and is more pieces so I think it will be fun to build.

Badly worded, I meant it's 53% off on Amazon!

Nice, I'm probably not going to have time until second half of August so you're way ahead of me!

I think the Jag looks good too!

I have downloaded quite a few sets of instructions from Rebrickable this year - some paid for - and have enjoyed the slightly less rigidly Lego corporate ways of doing things and the resulting models. Even if I didn't design them myself they feel more like the sort of thing I'd build as a kid. So when I saw there were numerous Rebrickable alternative designs for the 2025 Creator 3-in-1 Medieval Horse Knights' Castle 31168 https://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toy ... t/p/248617 which I already had, I thought I'd find some alternative designs. The really good looking ones use 3 copies of the set but I found one which used 2 copies and thought I'd try that - it's been variously available for £82 in the past and as you can see from that Smyths link, it's now available for £75 if you can find a store with stock. I ended up with 3 copies - one was a present last Christmas, one was picked up from Amazon at £82 and one from Smyths for £75, so over 4000 (useful) pieces for about £240 in total (assuming the present was bought with a discount). Actually that doesn't seem such good value now but hey

Finally this weekend I opened them up. When you're not building from the instructions the numbered bags become a pain so I built the original Lego design first and then dismantled it to get a feel for the parts included and sort them into sensibly sized cartons. Then yesterday I built the Horse Lord Castle from two copies: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-233156 ... e/#details
That results in a nice looking large castle, but having built the standard one the day before it was obvious how much the design followed the original - including exactly the same throne, bed, writing desk, lamps hanging from the ceiling etc. I have instructions for two different designs using 3 copies and they look far more varied so I'm looking forward to building those.

That looks really cool, I miss my old Eagle crest castle. Always liked them more than Lion crest, although I was a spoiled kid and had both.

Those rebrickable instruction costs I've always balked at.

Yeah, I remember the old lego castles from when I was a kid, I think a friend had one. They don't look much different nowadays.
