That must be from the same factory as the Rupes one minus the branding and 3x cheaper

It's really good, I did my S60, Mini, Disco 3 and 308 in lockdown with it and it didnt miss a beat.

On my semi regular inspection underneath the Defender I have a leaking wheel cylinder, bugger.

Will do shoes, cylinders and try and clean the drum up.

But you can get a proper DAS6 for £90. Am I missing something?

The DAS6 V2 also looks like a clone of the Rupes one. I reckon they’re all the same product which each supplier slaps their own brand on. There’s even a Hyundai one which looks the same.

Yep, I’ve got an Argos one which looks exactly the same as lots of other brands

Eldest miklet now has a 2013 Civic (1.8 VTEC 140bhp warmish). Rattle from back end turned out to be a cream crackered stone guard. Just surface rust mate.

No probs - these pop in and off easy enough eh?

Not on the civic - it’s in behind the hub, so calliper, carrier and disc need to come off.

But even that wasn’t enough. It’s in deeper. Watched a ‘tube vid that showed the whole rear hub including bearings is held on with 4 bolts, and the stone guard is then in behind. OK that’s quite neat. Worked out the rusty bolts and, ffs his isn’t like that. The stone guard is bolted onto the hub as opposed to behind, but you need the outer flange off to fit the fooker. FFS.

After 15mins pondering whether to risk it, versus just running it without a stone guard, we removed the main hub bolt, and it came apart as god intended - wheel bearing still fully intact. Phew.

Guard replaced, but FFS I thought Honda were supposed to be clever?

(And before anyone points it out - yes it is on a jack, but there is an axle stand under the rear beam as a backup).

First of a few things planned for the 4C - firstly, fixing the annoying drone around 70mph. Found someone selling a "Sound Architect" Quicksilver setup; was planing on a regular, non-valvued but price was too good to turn down.

For some reason, they've decided that the best way for these is an app on the phone to turn between quiet/loud....in a time when using your phone is now a capital offense. Annoying when I've got a free button on the dash which would be perfect for it.

For no real reason other than they were on Facebook marketplace locally and a good price, I’ve acquired a 5ft camping trailer and a full-size roof rack for the Vito. I feel I’m now in at-risk group. I have told my wife to stage an intervention immediately if I buy a “one life live it” sticker.

Check the tyres on the trailer! Seen so many with punctures recently. Followed one near home being towed by an early 1990s Rover 416 (the saloon version of the 200, not the later one based on the 400 hatch) which had clearly blown one tyre quite a few miles before and was busy wearing away its nearside rim by the time I saw him driving at 20mph (so undoubtedly aware).

Those small trailers look like a bitch to reverse

Yeah, I knew the tyres were a bit iffy

TBH I'm unlikely to use it, it was a bargain, it can sit in the garden for a bit and then I'll get bored and sell it.

Finally swapped noses on the compact. The one on there was the wrong early type and had a dent one end under the headlight.


Although I prefer the early grilles, they’re not right for the car so picked up a facelift replacement and opened up my spray booth



Looks a bit of a mess during surgery, but was reasonably straightforward. Had to remove the power steering cooler which passes through it but there’s a well placed connector at the highest point so lost barely any oil.

Oh, and I swapped the coilovers off the m3 onto it. I liked how it sat but it was just far too soft and would chew the arches when trying to turn on any sort of an incline. Camber and castor adjustment and much stiffer makes it far easier to fine tune.

Pain in the bum having one set of tools / decent jack and swapping between the two in a fairly confined gravel drive.

M3 is just on the compact struts for now to keep it moveable, I have a brand new set stored for when it ever goes back on the road…

Please could you fit a smaller number plate ? That looks HOOOOGGGEEEE.

US-spec bumper insert recess is (IIRC) 12” wide.

The Small plate looks daft imo.
