If he had fully charged at home then left his driveway and straight down the hill, what would've happened with the regenerative breaking?

This problem already exists in current electric cars. A friend moans about it on his ID3.

So it will never be a problem aslong as your destination is always higher than your starting point.

Relying on the excitation circuit to be switching in and out perfectly every time I touched the brake would be crazy.
I can’t ever see this being available, too many variables to rely on.

The battery can never be so full that you can't completely stop using just the regen. Simple physics - it takes more energy to accelerate to a speed than to bring the car back to rest. Since the car can't be charging while accelerating, even if you start your journey 100% full there will always be more than enough capacity created from your acceleration to accommodate the energy generated bringing the car back to rest.

So you start at 100% and then drive down the end of your sloped drive and crash.

Presuming your efficiency of charge and efficiency of drain stayed roughly the same, there will be hundreds of scenarios when you can be out of braking capacity.

That's when my induction brakes come into their own (apparently induction braking is the correct terminology - not electr-magnetic as I referred to them). If the battery is full and you can't harvest some energy back off that then it just dissipates as heat.

But that’s another lot of weight to the car, maybe it can be done with air only or the current water systems are over specced but something has to be added to absorb and get rid of that heat.

New ( correct facelift ) nose for the compact to paint and fit. Headlining material for the compact to replace the sagging one.

Material to do the sud doorcard inserts as the foam behind has crumbled and keeps shedding dust ( just plain grey, as close to Oe as I can get )

Stainless steel boxes pipes and bends to make complete new exhausts for both compact and ‘sud.

Plus probably loads more

You know you can modify the rear crossmember on the compact to run the exhaust *through* it for more ground clearance ? While you’re there, you know.

Tbh, the clearance issues I have are all at the front. Unless I literally stop on top of it I clatter the downpipe on the speed bump leaving work just as the front wheels drop over it. Annoying as I’d like to drop the front a little lower

Are you using the Infinity in place of the flakyfoam JL?
Is the cruise control retro pretty much plug and play?

I used to have a 12" JLW3 and Phoenix Gold amp in the boot of my 1275GT!

So the culprit was a worn hub causing the new bearing to fail. Exhibit A the circled line is where it ground itself away.



Some forthright discussion about how this was not correctly picked up before the bearing was replaced followed, and to be fair they held up their hands and said if I could source the part they'd fit it FOC.

I say new, it's new but not original as Jaguar no longer manufacture these parts. But SNG Baratt assure me it's fine, so it's all I have to work with. They're expecting to get it done by tomorrow mid-morning, when I can swap the Jag for the Rover as it's about to expire it's MOT.

Old car life eh.

I’ve fitted bearings to worse, that could have been cleaned up properly first though.
