It appears to be a

Injector out. New washers were 80p + VAT from Mercedes.

I've only done injector #1 so far, it was the most obviously leaking one, and I didn't want to push my luck too much because of exactly that kind of horror story !
I'm still getting a slight whiff when coming to a halt but I'm not sure if it's a leak or just some of the old muck burning off. I'll run it for a couple of days and then take another look.

Likely the latter, you won't have got it all.
I assume you've watched legitstreetcars (I think it is) on youtube, he's done some truly monstrous E320 CDI injector jobs....

Ugh. Maddy's Twingo has shat its biscuits already, dumping her on the side of the road. It made a screeching noise, then wouldn't allow her to select a gear. Luckily I was on my way home from the shithole that is London, so could swing by and take a look. My gut prognosis is that the slave cylinder (or clutch concentric slave cylinder to use its Royal title) has seized and caused a leak, as the Brake fluid reservoir is low and & the low brake fluid light is on. Pretty sure they share a reservoir, so that would make sense.
Trouble is, they're all buried inside the bellhousing now, so it means the gearbox has to come out to change a £36.00 part
Have also ordered a clutch in case it's contamintated. Hopefully not, as it's only on 89K so should be good for a while longer, but if it's a bastard to get out, then it'll be a no brainer. Guess that's my weekend sorted!

Bad luck, a Renault being a Renault unfort. I'd lend a hand if it wasn't for the 300 mile trip

Cheers! My 'never buy a Renault' has come back to bite me already! TBF, it's just unlucky. Could happen to any car, any time. Luckily my mate lives up the road from where she broke down, so I was able to start it in gear and drive it to his place, where I suspect he'll lend a hand.

How many months’ of updates was that?
Loads of track days there. Blyton is one I’ve never driven.

That was a prime candidate for throw cash at it to sort it!

Holy shit, that was a ball ache! So much has to come out to gain access, it'd almost be quicker to pull the engine

Slave cylinder was fubar, sadly contaminated the clutch so I've had to replace it. Should find out if it all works again tomorrow morning! Do not recommend.

Took advantage of the warm still weather to paint the awful roof on the compact. Typically I didn’t take any decent before photos, but it was really ugly. I was considering wrapping it but thought I’d give painting a go.
But yeah, the whole roof was a mess. Thankfully it’s completely separated from the rest of the car by seal strips so no need to blend in to the quarters etc which would have made it a far bigger job.
Sanding
Used an old cover as a masking sheet and chopped out the roof
Primed, sanded again, two decent layers of base coat.
No way was I going to be able to get a decent wet coat of lacquer painting outside with a light breeze, so just wanted enough on that I could sand and polish it back after.
So let it bake in the sun for a few hours before giving it a wet sand and quick polish.
Now want to do the rest of it
Was going to cost about £60 for a decent bit of vinyl wrap, painting cost me about £20 in materials.

I'd be really interested to see some better pictures (I saw some on IG) but that looks to be an incredible job for an outside attempt. Top work!
What did you use to apply the paint?
