The ultimate cyclist vs vehicle incident has happened. Cycling Mikey gets taken out and the driver fecks off.

I’m not convinced that is Mikey (?) but regardless - zero excuse for the driver there (in respect of their failure to see the bike, and their driving off after the impact like a cnt.

In my experience car drivers often don't see cyclists on roundabouts. I had a particularly close call and it was only me yelling like a banshee that got the woman's attention before she drove into the side of me

Anything where cars are pulling out is a risk - the drivers seem blind to anything smaller than a car. On Saturday I was out on my bike, cycling through Drakes Broughton up a minor road which had some temporary lights for roadworks. There was a side road just before them. Lights turned green so I sped up to about 25mph to get through before the changed back to red, and an idiot in a 25-plate Merc B-class pulled straight out of the side road immediately in front of me. I could see the driver look at me and realise he'd not seen me but he didn't actually bother to brake. Cnut. Fortunately I braked because I could see he wasn't looking at me so wasn't particularly close to hitting him - but only due to my own avoidance.

i wasn’t a million miles from taking out a bike the other day - he was tracking along exactly behind my A pillar as i pulled up to a junction. i saw him VERY late and thankfully was still going slowly enough to stop.

Modern vehicles have big A pillars - obviously no excuse because i was clearly not paying enough attention, but true!

Yep, I had exactly the same situation as the video above, got hit from the side and launched 5 metres across the roundabout. Snapped the bottom bracket on my bike in half.

From that angle (where admittedly the car position is obscured almost to the point of impact) that one would also appear to be 100% driver fault.

Given the cyclist position at the junction - right side of the lane, just by the centre line - and where the car hits him, I'd say the car must have cross the centre line BEFORE the junction (potentially into oncoming traffic) and then tried to take the straighter line across the junction.

100% the cars fault IMO

Shame the car's registration number was not visible because of the way the camera fell. Not obvious whether it was still attached to Mikey.

Poor sod. This sort of video just makes it more obvious that he's doing the right thing.

Yeah, he's not my cup of tea (I'm sure he's fine in real life) but obviously he has a fucking point

That was ridiculous.

Is the Punto one definitely him? Not that we need to keep score, once is more than enough for anyone.

The Punto one is confirmed as not being Mikey, it was someone else.
