Latest passenger EV experience - Mercedes EQE.
Ride quality much better. I expect it is on air? Still not as good as an S class. More refined but maybe slightly more jiggly than an E.
Main problem though is that on account of the battery skateboard thing there is NO footwell. The floor feels like it is about 6 inches below the seat base and the backrest is upright. Same deal as the Jag iPace so altogether still not a decent car to be passengered in and presumably that was one of the key use cases

My business partner's EQC 400 rides better than the Teslas that I've been in. Weighing 2500kg probably helps! He rarely gets more than 200 miles out of it though, which I couldn't be bothered with in something that is a family car. Yeah, I think the Alpine version goes a bit faster but don't think it's particularly worth paying £9k for a marginally faster car.

It's not much of an issue though really is it? Looks great, the interior is cool, performance ok but top speed is an issue for a fun drive.

I obviously used to drive everywhere at 90+mph in my old Clios, but would struggle to do so today. And there were few occasions where that was much fun, especially compared to threading down some decent roads at speeds more like 60-70 tops, and on the twistier stuff that was more suited to a small car those speeds would have been less. It's a bit like the uproar at the 50 "average" limit introduced on the Cat & Fiddle years ago, and yet for the most part you'd probably struggle to break a 50 average on most sections unless you were absolutely hanging it all out there.mik wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 2:50 pmAgree. Would you hit that speed much on a track? There can't be many where you're getting up to those speeds in anything vaguely normal before you hit a bend.

They can cheap out on other areas. Smaller brakes, less battery and motor cooling. Other shortcoming will also not be as obvious such as high speed stability, sound deadening. Mito makes a good point in general terms. A lot of modern car's performance is redundant and just adds unnecessary costs and complexity

The limiter will make a difference to insurance too I imagine
