Another public service announcement, as some of you may be interested: bloke on the Chris Ward site offering “final reduced price before it’s out up for sale elsewhere”. Almost blemish free 2019 Rolex Explorer 39mm for £7500.
I just can't see anywhere near £7500 of value in that watch. Too plain and boring and way too much money for what it is IMO.

I remember when you used to post bargains, Mik
Rolex are so far away from what I am prepared to pay for a watch that I had absolutely no idea if it was a good price or not

List price for a new steel Explorer - which is now only sold in 36mm size not that 39mm - is £5700. Which is about £2k more than I reckon is sensible, and probably £3k more than I’d think is the right value.
ETA: all ignoring the fact you can probably sell it to Watchfinder for £6k straight away.

Where is the best place to sell a watch? I want to sell my dad's Seamaster but I don't know which of the watch websites are good, bad or indifferent.

Up to £6k new from the beginning of September. Agree it's about £2k too much, but the Speedmaster Professional is £6k new now as well, I swear they were like £3500 just a couple of years ago.

Seiko Sun019 that I bought from @Jobbo has had its first dives (in my ownership, possibly ever?). Unsurprisingly it performed flawlessly.
Also had to take a link out of the bracelet as my wrists have gotten thinner.

Certainly had no dives in my ownership, and the chap I bought it from wasn’t a diver as far as I know. I’m glad it performed its true purpose properly!

Treated myself to a new watch, been on the look out for something for a while and as soon as I saw this I knew it fitted the bill in terms of size and simple style. Got a basic automatic movement and so probably a touch over priced for what it is, but I still love it and it has a nice feel to it.
Picture doesn't really show the colour up, it's a deep blue colour. Library pic:

I really like the new Tudor Pelagos 39mm. It has the flash of red from the LHD which lifted the looks of that model, the slightly fussy chapter ring has gone and the simplified hour markers (no surround) are lovely. The size is just right, the slightly sunburst dial and bezel also lift it from the regular Pelagos... but they've removed the date. That was the main thing which stopped me wearing my Black Bay and therefore I won't be getting the 39mm. Ironic really, since the original Pelagos has one of the best integrated dates of any watch; it just looks like an hour marker at a glance due to its size, shape and colour. Boo.

I'm very taken by this one too
Would like to try one on
The Ranger I tried recently was really nice (the addition of a glide lock style clasp really adds to the overall impression of a premium product)
I've heard rumours that the 39mm Pelagos is already wait listed though
Might put my name down though...

It's a Tudor - you will be able to get one fairly quickly. Even the Harrods green Black Bay seems readily available, maybe not on the day but soon.

I’ve been on “the list” for a Tudor black bay chrono panda since they were released, I even called at the AD last month to check that they hadn’t forgotten about me

Random, but I looked at some Spinnakers in person in France last week and was thoroughly underwhelmed
Those £50-60 Paganis I've had from AliExpress were of a way higher quality
Complete waste of money IMO

My original Apple Watch is getting on for 7 years old and the battery life now runs out about an hour before I sleep so…

I haven’t worn any other watch since and with such a long service from the original I thought I might as well splurge on the Hermes one.

My phone needs to update to iOS 16 (when did that happen) for it to work so I’ll let that happen overnight.

What does a Hermes one do? Is it more money?

It syncs with ApplePay to take more money, unnecessarily, from your account.
It’s very clever really

It has an expensive strap. I think there may also be one unique face.

There’s a few unique faces but they’re all crap bar one

The case is also engraved and that’s it.
