Every year I mean to buy an air con unit. I’m soldiering on with two fans at the end of the bed.

Picked a bad day to work on a black car outside in the sun. Everything I touch burns me and if I get any more tanned the Reform party will try to deport me. Got a gazebo up for some respite now.

I am not doing a lot today. It’s a tad warm, but better that than wet and windy.

I did have to take my jumper off driving the sud home from work yesterday afternoon.

Lots of clear glass that you sit close to, and 70s ventilation isn’t a great combination in hot weather. At least mine has the cloth seats not the optional vinyl

Ooh, the guy who spends a lot of time in equatorial plant rooms doesn't mind the heat, shock horror!

I think it might be marginally cooler outside than inside - the walls in this place are thick and poorly insulated, so in summer they turn into an economy 7 storage heater (this things with bricks in the bottom, remember them?), and in winter they do the opposite, although at least in winter you can just throw a thick hoodie on.

Got thunder warnings for later apparently, maybe that'll clear the air a bit and get a breeze going.

Went to Billingsgate market at dawn (4.30am) which was beautiful as ever, did some work in my air conditioned office earlier, now making mackerel salad with oysters for lunch with a friend. Will fall asleep with a fan blowing a gentle breeze this afternoon. I’m fine with this heat, as long as I don’t expect to do much between 2-6pm

Not sure if this is coincidence but I swear the carriage at the drivers end is cooler than the rest of the train. It’s a total life saver for me, it runs from my local station and I use it instead of the Central line which is a furnace.

I don’t mind the heat on the central line, just something you accept however the amount of stinky fuckers is atrocious. Some people actually smell like they belong in a fucking zoo. It should be a criminal offence.

Yesterday I made the mistake of wearing a pink shirt and my face was the exact same colour.

I always assumed that was an east London issue not a west London thing, that west Londoners are better groomed

I’ve been travelling in from Abbey Wood, apparently the most affordable place to buy in London. It doesn’t seem that bad.

The one positive is that it’s at the end of the line so you can sit in the cool train waiting for it to leave rather than standing on a sweltering platform.

We (I) put the pool up a couple of days ago. Basically spent most of today chilling in it with the kids.

It's hotter in the house now than it was at midday, based on a pseudo ambient temp sensor I have (a RasPi Zerow2 that does my local DNS)

Was working all day yesterday, the heat wasn’t fun but the real issue was the humidity, my T-shirt was absolutely soaking

The temperature dropped overnight at least.

By, er, around half a degree based on the what the RaspPi is reporting. And now rising past yesterdays peak. At 0830.

I've opened every window in the house and the front door and accepted that I'll be chasing flies out for a couple of days, hopefully will get a breeze pickin' up and taking the edge off the internal temps.

The temps in southern mainland Europe look unbearable. Glad I did my trip in early to mid spring!

dinny, Cam. is well beyond your melting temp (20° iIrc), how will you rehydrate and recover? Can a drip be connected to a drop?
