Tyre shop didn’t possess a socket large enough to get the back wheel off and have had to buy one in especially. They claim to have done Superduke tyres before, but obviously they haven’t as they’ve had the same size nut since at least 2014.

Bike dealer in bare faced lies shocker.

My dealer just called, the docs have turned up so I can actually collect the Tracer GT tmrw after all. Called broker and the reg hasn't updated on the MID yet. Amazing, Royal Mail is quicker than an electronic dbase.. still, docs sorted so if I get stopped I should be fine.

That probably means I can't meet you for a coffee at the tyre place Dave. I'll message if things align but I've pencilled in 2pm at Wigan..

No worries. I'm going early because MrsREV wants to get her hair done for Mother's Day. I suppose I'd better buy flowers or something.

Thought I'd whore my recent upgrade in here. Swapped the Tracer900 for '18 model TracerGT last weekend. To most it'll look identical but there are quite a few changes made that actually make this a far more capable package and worth the upgrade for me.

Biggest changes, swingarm stretched 60mm, suspension upgraded to fully adjustable and improved quality over all. Remote preload added.
Seat upgraded to a far more quality item, old seat went hard within an hour, new one is fine.
Screen - OEM is still a bit rubbish but this one has a Puig touring screen, much improved protection.
Quick shifter is nice toy, useful for quick getaways if nothing else.
Cruise control - never missed it but now I have it, I love it. Any big boring straight, pop that on and chill. Marvelous.
Colour LCD dash. Smaller than old model but you get used to it.
Standard hard luggage.
Yamaha rack (added 39l box - bigger one looks daft on this bike)
Heated Grips - now I have them, they're useful more than you realise.
Narrower bars - easier filtering, and I should be able to get it down the side alley to wash it now!

Managed a few runs over the weekend, the ride quality is much more composed, better damping, less pitch on braking or WOT, the narrower bars mean more input needed but no bad thing. Cruise control allows for a few games on boring bits, trying to anticipate gaps in traffic etc. The more composed nature also means much less flighty coming out of bends on WOT, this model just drives forward where the old model would wind the rear shock up, which would then rebound badly, and then wind up again..now I can drive hard without worrying those shite OEM Dunslips.

tl;dr Loving this new model, much improved, can't wait to get out on some big days out.

ps: for a near year old bike with 2700 miles it's remarkably clean, so much so that you might spot the "keep off" sign in the pic. Dealer had to run out several times to stop punters messing with it, they all thought it was a new model! Scuffs on heal plates and minor scratches on front mudguard, otherwise it's ruddy mint

Heard lots of good reports on M7RR, will be getting them for the StreetR when I kill the Corsas.

The Tracer looks ace, Baz. I hate the cruise control on the KTM. It sometimes just randomly switches itself off (I think it’s being a bit sensitive to throttle movement) and there’s rather a lot of engine braking from a 1301cc v-twin. Never use it now.

Might go to the local Yamaha dealer next week, as they're having a MT demo weekend, will be interesting to see what they've got to ride.

Definite evolution over the previous model Tracer yeah.

MT test rides - Make sure you try anything with the CP3 triple, it's a great real world motor, not esp fast but not slow either, really tractable but still fizzy and fun at road speeds. Then test an MT10 (SP ideally) and wind second gear up.

I want to test the Triumph Speed Twin this summer, I can see me on that in a few years, as a general feel good run about.

New bike looks great Baz. Love the wheels and the tail/seat unit Hopefully the fact that you knew what the niggles were on your old one and that they've been addressed, means frustration free miles for you.

I still haven’t got this sorted. They called me last Thursday to tell me they’d got the 60mm socket, but I was in a meeting so let it go to voicemail. They asked me to call them back to rearrange fitting the tyres.

Called them 8 times and it was either engaged or no one picked up.

And now my garage door has jammed again so I can’t actually get my bike out anyway until the fitter can come and fix it, but I’m away on holiday this week.

Why is life so hard?

This happened in Argentina in Moto2 last weekend, I think it was Alex Marquez's team who had to break the door open

It’s pissing me right off. It worked flawlessly for 3 years, and now it’s breaking constantly.
