I told them both to get their heads checked, to stop listening to paranoid Americans on the internet and read some proper reliable news sources
Just been sat next to a pair of supposed adults (males, 40s at a guess) in a restaurant in an affluent London suburb spouting similar nonsense. It was disturbing listening to them.

US Dems are apparently Communists "as I call them" (quote: moron one), and everybody is really a capitalist because socialism doesn't work, and labour only wants us to believe that they want to fix things. And so on and so forth.

Very convenient of the so-called Olympics to come along when they did to distract people from and so the media can control the narrative of that bloke getting kicked by that copper.

Fixed that for ya ;-)

For clarity, the smarter flat earthers - AKA the full blown grifters - denied this free trip to antarctica, because apparently you can't go there/you can only go with government minders/they don't take you to Antarctica they only take you to somewhere cold/you'll get turned away by the armed guards of the Ice Wall etc - because they knew it'd destroy their grift base. They now get to be contrarian by turning on those who did go.

Who are, some other flat earthers - actual true believers, who were thick enough to agree to go. And I expect they're now crying into their Frosties at having their whole world view (presumably, a flat one) blown apart.

Still, I'm sure they'll find a way to lie about it and claim the earth is still flat, because having your entire personality tied to something like this, and having it shattered, must hurt.

Good.

From what I’ve seen, the ones who did go have said the model they were led to believe simply does not work, they had been lied to, there is such a thing as a 24h sun etc, and were quite upset that something they truely believed had been blow apart.

Of course all the deniers said it was rigged, called them fake etc, just shows how dense they are, I mean, they’ve spent decades ignoring facts from globers, I doubt a couple of flerfers saying they’re wrong is going to change many peoples minds.

I made a mistake of watching a video about the recent fog over the uk for a few day containing metals and how so many people had started feeling I’ll after going out in it.

I was loling at some comments and at some of the “do your own research” answers.

Then thanks to algorithm nonsense I was seeing another one every 2 or 3 videos! It’s very easy to see how slightly suspicious or easily lead people get sucked in by fake science.

Gratuitous Peep Show quote but it's 100% relevant:

"Yeah, well, Frosties are just Cornflakes for people who can't face reality"

I feel like there a heavy serving of schadenfreude in the way people are celebraing this, which is a shame because the flat-earthers I saw online were displaying plenty of good-natured humility about what they'd learned. Everyone gets stuff wrong sometimes, and the internet makes it very, very easy to get sucked into rabnbit holes of misinformation. Even noble prizewinners have fallen for conspiracy theories. Just because people are miseducated isn't a reason to dance around in glee. Sure, flat earth is a crazy theory that's easily disproven, and I'm also happy that people took the time to educate in a constructive way around the subject.

If people really believe the earth is fiat, I have sympathy towards them

If they know it's not flat and they're just lying and grifting, fuck 'em

Why is believing in a flat earth a conspiracy but believing in magical sky fairies a religion and accepted?
How about not having a sig at all?
