For me it needs to be up against the M4 and some new TVR as that's what I remember the old hoop-ass one being compared to in the mags. I doubt I'd buy one ever as I just prefer the old way of changing gears and I'd probably enjoy a secondhand 370Z more or a 135 coupe/M240i as they'll be cheaper sooner.
Be interested to see the Autocar test on it though

Are list prices even relevant any more, BMW list is about 20% more when you get all the discounts

Yes, Mustangs are firmly list unless there’s a model year change and old stock left around, even then discounts are small. That’s where Toyota would - should - be hoping to pitch an icon.
I guess Audi TT’s, Caymans/Boxsters and Mercs are not far behind.

I distinctly remember the last Supra being tested against the E36 M3. This new one seems to be a hell of a lot more sporty rather than GT.

It better be more sporty as it’s no longer a 2+2. I’m still hoping they’ll make a Z4M so that Toyota can make a more deserving homage to the Supra. As it is part of me wishes they just stuck with the nicer concept car, rebranded it as a Lexus and sold it for 100 grand as a proper 911/AMG GT competitor.

That's right Simon, that was in CAR.
Plus again in TOP GEAR with a Cerbera thrown in ( some nice photography in that article too )

Looks alright to me
Goes alright, at the moment
And in 5-6 years time when they’re cheaper, out of warranty, and not just being rented on the monthly, will have a huge* modding scene
Seems to me like they’ve done alright. And they’ll sell. I don’t remember the last ten Supra being a massive seller? Maybe I’m wrong. Nor do I remember them looking all that good. I just remember them being driven nest council estates with HUGE exhaust cans stuck in the back
It was never going to be the second coming
*im not sure the modding scene is really a thing any more. Max Power is dead. Fast And Furious films are about The Rock robbing banks. And Need for Speed Underground 2 is also dead

Clearly you have never been to Wrexham. It's like you pass through a portal on the A483, back to 1994.

You are massively wrong with that assumption. It's the same as it ever was.

If anything, it’s more mainstream and professional than its ever been. All those 17 year olds throwing tens of thousands of pounds at Citroen Saxos are now middle-aged blokes throwing the same money at real cars.

Interesting
I guess it’s a bit less in the main stream? But perhaps the people spending the money are still spending it. Just the people not spending the money, aren’t talking about it much

Just as many “crazy-camber-stretched-sidewall-bagged” fiestas these days as there were dodgy-bodykit-and-TSW-venom” fiestas back when we were young.

They’ve upgraded from Saxos to Focus STs around Kent. Every fecking ST you see will have a RS style exhaust. Fact.
Still see the usual crap around McDonalds and Halfords but interesting that you now see the odd Skoda in the mix. Bit sad that no one seems to put neons under their car anymore. Mods are more subtle though - less bodykits and more things like air ride as said.
In London it’s mainly expensive cars modded professionally by one of the numerous tuning companies, completed with terrible wrap/plastidip. Then again you could count some dealer cars as being modded. The Jaguar Project cars and Rover SVR are to keep customers spending money with JLR rather than a modding company. You can go to the BMW dealer and stick and endless amount of M Performance stuff on any car now.

Maybe if they sell enough Supras, they’ll be a selection of dealer fit Gazoo Racing add ons available to buy
That’d be fun

With all the BMW underpinnings, I'd rather have a M2 Competition, which also looks much better.
