<checks calendar, yep, it's early October>

Have an Eccles cake and stop with this Christmas food shenanigans.

Dave!

Genuinely would have mince pies all year round. Hot cross buns are sold throughout the year, I think mince pies should be as well! (I could just make them myself, but I can't be arsed)

Greggs aint that cheap anymore, unless it’s a bacon bun and a coffee

Had these last week which were rather lovely - https://www.fortnumandmason.com/christm ... -pies-210g

Wife just brought in some from our local bakery. Just about to make a cup of tea and tuck into those as well!

I've barely touched any this year @mik really letting the side down :|

Doing my own this year. As a fairly lazy and quickly repeatable filling:
1 jar standard Lidl mincemeat
1 apple finely chopped
2 satsumas finely chopped
1/2 pack unsalted mixed nuts, blitzed
1 good slug of brandy

Plus standard sweet shortcrust recipe.

They feel a lot more grown up than most commercial ones

The LIDL ones are nice, and about sixpence and thereabouts.

I wasn't sure where to put this, it fits several threads, but it seems for sure @Gavster 's been seen so I went for pie fatigue in his pie thread;

For anyone in the South, Grain Culture make the finest mince pie in the known universe. All lush pastry, deep mincemeat, lovely almondy stuff and so on.
No idea how you order on line...
