I hope that's getting either a red top, Lotus slant 4, or LS V8 conversion.

Are you letting your brother keep it until it goes to KGF to have photos taken against a white background?

My immediate thought was an LS crate engine, but then I decided ste would not start building a ProjectStoopid (tm) with an old Viva.

Oh and it's covered in spots of surface rust, proper original paint you see. I think the kids call it patina. According to my Dad it's absolutely rock solid body wise though, no actual rust anywhere. In fact he said it's tidier than most he worked on in the '70s.

The restoration bug has got you, I see.
P.S. - it'll doubtless make you a tidy profit so it's by no means a mad thing to have bought. You're just mad to think of driving it

I’ve got some old Vauxhall stuff (I too have a penchant for Vivas and Firenzas) which has loads of pics of the DTV Vivas. I’ll see if I can find them to n the garage and scan them.

Very

and unexpected.
I’ve always fancied the idea of a classic as a roundaround / daily. Maybe something Japanese or Mercedes.

I approve
There's an old fella still driving his gold Viva in the Sheffield area. I like to think he's owned it from new.

I sometimes wonder about going completely off script and buying something daft - then I go on autotrader and finding myself ticking the 0-5 second acceleration button and realising I’ve already got what I want!

Which is why this, has been named Justin by my brother's kids.

Look forward to seeing what you do with it

Interesting. Not my thing, but as Marv says, will enjoy reading about it.

Approved!
LS swap that bitch.
Or a K24 turbo would be good too.

Brilliant!
I'm no old Vauxhall fan but it's nice to see someone doing something more leftfield. That and knowing your eye for detail it'll look CAF in no time.

Superlight R to Viva - I don't think I've ever been more confused in my entire life.
Erm - congrats. I think. I don't get it. You're happy - that'll do for now

This is where I’m thankful my dads back catalogue of cars consists almost solely of E30s, 928s and Range Rovers
I suppose his first ever car was a Beetle, followed by a Capri and then a 3 litre Capri, but those were long before my time.
