Trump
Re: Trump
I feel like Trump has managed to convince people that he's anti-establishment. By talking nonsense he reinforces that he's not like all the other politicians who can string a coherent sentence together. I think young people like someone who they perceive to be doing things differently, no matter how obviously naive that might be, young people are also not famed for their consideration of consequences, and doing something like voting for Trump because it's funny rather than important is exactly the kind of thing they'd do in large numbers.

Re: Trump
Did you see his direct threat to John Deere ??
"Move your manufacturing to Mexico and I'll place a 200% levy on all goods you import into the US"

Re: Trump
Will it happen or is it the same as his healthcare plan which was “ready to go” in 2017?
If he does get in, I hope there are people behind the scenes to keep him in check as he seems more and more deranged as time goes on!

Re: Trump
He did have a tariff war last time round with China and stopped quite a few companies moving abroad.
Tbf I don’t think import tariffs are that bad. It’s not like savings are ever passed to the consumer, but merely used to grow profit margins. You can’t go to your Agri dealer and say “can I have one of those Dear Johns made in Mexico for 30% off”

How about not having a sig at all?

This newsletter has a brilliant guide detailing where to watch the election result (Not the BBC), and also what times to expect important results, and what they could mean

Re: Trump
If you want a lefty woke communist view, Some More News are doing a livestream early tomorrow morning (our time) which might prove entertaining. They're actually pretty critical of all parties, have good insights into US politics and are less restrained by by broadcast regs, so it might be an interesting watch between other coverage.
If nothing else, it'll likely be viciously sarcastic. I won't be staying up for it, but it might still be running by the time I wake up tomorrow...

Re: Trump
Depends how close it is AFAIK. Biden's win took something like 4 days to be formally declared - helping Trump stoke the "stolen" fire of course.dinny_g wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 10:38 am When's the final result due to be called. It takes a while IIRC
If it's not close, it'll be easier to call it early.

Not googling that.. not again anyway!!ZedLeg wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 1:54 pm It’s weird that the last big push for the gop seems to be making out that putting down an illegal pet squirrel that a gay porn star was using to advertise his onlyfans is massive government overreach.

Re: Trump
All the polls are saying it's too close to call. I don't see any merit in making a prediction but I do think after the election the outcome will be more decisive than it looks right now, and we'll wonder why we couldn't see that.

If Trump wins, I want to see what the dems will say.Simon wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 2:07 pm If Trump loses my eyes will be on Elon, not Trump. Can't wait to see the smugness disappear from his face.
If they lose because they pushed away people speaking up for Palestine it’s their own fault.
An absolute unit
