And if they say "No, we don't want to move" then I'm sure it'll be a whole new world of legal delays.

Like I said above, our neighbour was 3 months in arrears with rent, then it was 6 months to get him out and the council helped him stay.

He also trashed a lot of the house, no repercussions.

Could you not just offer a fixed term tenancy instead?

It wouldn’t solve the concern of people not wanting to leave but you wouldn’t get people looking for a long term home applying.

Rent it to a friend/friend of a friend if you can. Otherwise pick a good agent, they often have tenants on their books that they have a long history with.

Thought Labour were going to abolish the HoL, or was that just one of those things they said whilst in opposition without intending to ever act on?

I am starting to become a fan of Rayner though. I’m all for her war against councils and silly games they play.
Feel like I need to take a swig of vodka after saying that though.

They never said they'd abolish it short term, but that they'd reform it and longer term - broadly paraphrasing - replace it with something more fit for purpose as a check on parliament, by dumping hereditary peerages and effectively remove lifetime peerages by making it way easier to boot people out when they're clearly doing fuck all or are very obviously just there as a result of bribery, flattery and other kinds of foreign influence campaigns, etc.

https://lordslibrary.parliament.uk/hous ... elopments/

Which despite me being cynical of Labour, is genuinely not a bad game plan, given the number of Lords who only use their peerages for clout and influence, and never actually debate or vote on a damned thing.

I have no idea why anyone in the public eye decides that they want to weigh-in on incredibly divisive topics like politics or religion.

Wes Streeting has just announced that they’re going to spend a tonne of money doing fuck all about social care.

They used to try and hide these pocket fattening endeavours.

Ed Miliband (Net Zero Minister) says he’s “uncomfortable “ with 3rd runway at LHR but won’t cause any disruption.. they really are a bunch of self serving hypocrites, irrespective of party preference, they’ll accept whatever so long as they keep their position and benefits.

I imagine by the time the runway actually gets built we'll have electric airplanes or just entirely given up on them and use spaceships instead

Long term projects in this country are doomed, if it's not the other party taking over and scrapping them its infighting and legal challenges. I thought Reeves's latest announcement was decent in terms of longer term planning but they're all things that have been announced years ago by the Tories and never materialised.

Yeah, I don’t expect to ever use that runway before I retire in 20 years! 😁

What are you talking about? Rachel wants spades in the ground within this term...

But then Rachel has also been stating that no new full length runway has been built in the UK since the 1940s

I’m not sure there’s even a viable design for this run way yet? Last one i saw had them building it across the M25?

Yes the M25 will have to tunnel under it.

50 Labour MPs voted against Heathrow expansion in 2018, including Keir Starmer and Ed Milliband

“There is no more important challenge than the climate emergency. That’s why I voted against Heathrow expansion”

“We owe it to future generations not just to have good environmental principals but to act on them. That is why I will be voting against the third runway at Heathrow”

Or Clive Lewis,

“ the next Labour government is going to break with the tired dogma of growth for growths sake, consequences be damned. Economic sustainability will be at the heart of all we do. Heathrow’s expansion fails these tests at every hurdle. That’s why it must be opposed.”

At least the added pollution will give them an excuse to lower that bit of the M4 that is a 60 down to, I don't know, 20mph?
