Local compensation company (Atha and co if you’re interested) have started advertising on the radio directly for getting compensation for cyclists “was a poorly designed cycle lane to blame” etc

Given some of the scummers that ride on the wrong side of the road doing wheelies in my area I bet there’s a few going to be throwing themselves infront of cars soon

1. Far lower risk than stepping out in front of a car.
2. Easy to use the “doesn’t matter what I did - I am higher risk so you must take care of me” approach that cyclists have pushed successfully
3. Don’t even need to steal a bike to participate.

The risk may be lower but if I hit someone on my bike it’s gonna fuck them up.

Where there’s blame there’s a claim. Pedestrians are more vulnerable - cyclists must ensure their safety.

100% driver fault. Cyclist enters the roundabout almost a full second before the van reaches their give way line - I assume they were looking to their right only (?)

Legally the van driver is culpable and is indeed a cunt. Regardless of wether the cyclist should have waited or not vans not looking at the road ahead and has hit a bloke in a bike

However these videos just make me wish cyclists would learn that it’s better to do something you shouldn’t have to and be safe. Yes it’s not what should happen, and many people will say this is victim blaming but it’s not intended as such. It’s just wishing cyclists would change mindset from “I’m the vulnerable road user, I have right of way” to “everyone is trying to kill me”

Is much rather see a video of “if I hadn’t waited that cunt of a bus driver would have killed me there” than “watch a bus driver not give way to me and snap my spine in 26 places”

With a mini roundabout you have to give way to vehicles approaching it, not just those on it. So not 100% the van’s fault though it didn’t look like he slowed down at all.

yeah, some self preservation would have helped. if he’d looked to his right he would have definitely seen the van coming and easily been able to stop. The van was driving WAY too fast onto the roundabout though.
