I saw one exactly like yours on the M6 last week. They look great on the move. The SR's are fetching really strong money now too - £40k+! The 400's are back over £50k again.

Not quite, it does reflect slightly differently (more obvious in certain angles of light) and you can see where I have blended if you look carefully, probably because the depths of original vs my spray clear coat are different. Tis loads better than the peel though ! The trick is taking your time, thinner coats, more layers, plenty of drying time, very careful/gentle use of the wet-n-dry.

I finally got around to replacing the fog lights on the MINI. They appeared to be full of sand ???


I think what it actually is, is that it’s an aluminium housing and once the shiny coating comes off, the aluminium just merrily oxidises away and fills the lamp. This passed an MOT in January !

Replacement requires half removing the front bumper which is a bit of a pain but not really that hard.

Front fog lamps aren't a legal requirement.

But any lights that are fitted have to work.

Only for vehicles first registered after 1st April 2018.

That's a new one for me.

Yeah, front fogs won’t even have been switched on for the test, as long as they weren’t smashed with sharp edges they would be a pass.

Seen some decent S for £35k ish.... makes the non S at £27k seem expensive!

Got the car washed the other day. When drying it off noticed the lhs rear light moving. Had a look and 2 nut missing out of the 3. Halfords fitted two bulbs for me a few weeks ago at a cost of 5 quid. Checked other side and all 3 loose. He had even left a spanner in the boot.

Anyway they apologised and being a chilled individual I said it wasnt a problem - if the lights had fallen out and broken then it would have been a different story. Pay peanuts.....

I did, and I was reasonably interested but I kept my sensible hat on. I think it might have been a decent buy.

Cayenne - the steering now has power again

However, in a highly controversial move that has upset internet know-it-alls across the board, instead of spending £300 getting the old rack rebuilt, or £2,500 on a brand new one (LOL), I spent £40 on a second hand rack and fitted that instead. If/when that one packs up I’ll admit defeat and get the original one rebuilt. But for now, £40 rack + £15 of fluid + an afternoon of my time has done the trick.

And you have a second hand rack you can sell for £40 to further reduce the net cost

So the Jag got some work done. The odd tyre wear wasn't due to a bush or track rod being knackered but because the toe, camber and caster was miles. The before analysis from the Hunter rig was just a sea of red. £60 well spent to get them all back in line and £240 for a pair of Uniroyals on the front.

The wheel sensor issue turned out to not be just corrosion or a dodgy sensor but the ABS ring has eaten through the sensor. to fix it will need Jag sensors and pattern driveshafts and £1,000. I think I'll just live with it for now.

The collapsed wiper mechanism was a 2 hour job and the part was £380 from Jaguar.

The final bill was £940. My wallet is very unhappy but I can see out and the car drives much better than before.

Quick adjustment by Wheel Alignment Solution in Southampton as recommended. I was only there 10 mins. RHS front toe was 1.5 degs off.
Does still need a very slight right hand down a bit, say in the outside lane of a motorway, probably due to the camber, but less than before so more relaxing to poodle along in.

Booked the Fabia in for a couple of weeks' time to see if they can make it go round cones faster.
