I mean, it is just becoming less and less relevant.

https://www.theregister.com/2024/11/29/ ... ne_nation/
That's according to Ofcom's Online Nation report, an annual publication looking at what UK citizens do during their hours online and how much time they spend glued to gadgets.

According to the comms regulator, adults spent an average of four hours 20 minutes a day online in May 2024 across tablets, smartphones, and computers.

The report also shows that the total UK adult reach in a month of X (formerly Twitter) continues to decline. For May 2022, Ofcom measured X's adult reach at 26.8 million. In 2023, it was 24 million. By May 2024, it had fallen to 22.1 million, a year-on-year decline of 8 percent.

X suffered the most significant fall in total adult use of all social media sites, which also resulted in it sliding down the rankings to sixth, behind Reddit, which registered the largest year-on-year growth – 47 percent – taking May's figure to 22.9 million.

Several changes have been made at X in recent months, but the platform has continued on a downward trajectory in Britain and Northern Ireland.

Ofcom's figures align with other research on X. While still hugely popular, the service has been shedding users over the last two years. UK-based SOAX reported an 8.83 percent decrease in monthly active users since 2022 and 5.14 percent since 2023. This is despite global growth in social media users, according to Statista.
Literally shedding users while other social media platforms grow.

In hindsight it was clear it was purchased as a tool to help win the election for Trump/Elon so even if it gets shut down it’s been a success.

$45 billion is quite an investment to get your choice of president 😃

It's probably cheap compared to professional industry lobbying.

As far as government spending goes it’s probably quite efficient

Some useful advice about quitting twitter:

https://lifehacker.com/dont-delete-your ... 1849779710

Basically, clean out your account but don’t close it, as that will allow someone else to pick up your username in the future and pretend to be you. Not a big deal for me but for someone with real followers, could be important.

I'm not a big user of it but often flick through if on hold for rugby, car, funny content but its increasingly become more grim with lots of US content, guns, violence, right wing propaganda so knocking it on the head and have a look a this blue sky thing.

Yeah, Musk supporting a party who think the Nazi era of Germany is just a "just a speck of bird's muck in more than 1,000 years of successful Germany history" is hardly a shock.

French far-right leader nutter Le Pen severed ties with the AfD because they were too extreme.

Never mind that lying, racist, 70-IQ thug, check this loser out.

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/wor ... 769422.cms
Johnson and others have presented several pieces of evidence that suggest the account is linked to Musk:

Voice Analysis: Johnson claimed that software designed to analyze voice patterns matched the “Adrian Dittman” account’s voice to Elon Musk’s.

Slips of the Tongue: In earlier X Spaces, the account allegedly referred to Musk in the first person, a glaring slip that fueled suspicions.

Linguistic Patterns: Critics pointed out that the account’s speech patterns, including vowel sounds and linguistic habits, closely align with Musk’s South African background, particularly when the speaker became agitated.

Content and Behavior: The account’s frequent and fervent defense of Musk, coupled with its attacks on critics, struck many as eerily personal.

Social media has been ablaze with reactions, ranging from humor to outrage. A viral tweet summed up the bizarre situation: “You’re telling me Elon was using an alt account on a Twitter space with a voice changer, got so mad he dropped the act, exposed himself, and is now banning everyone who mocked him? Peak 2024.”
Having listened to a few chunks of it, the person in question - assuming it's not a decent modern voice changer, a thing that as far as I know can be done in near-real time quite convincingly these days - has basically all of musks stutters, inflections and verbal tics down to a tee.

Or, you know, it's Musk being so desperate for supporters of him that he's literally sockpuppeting himself because the only people who are backing him up on anything these days are literal neo-nazis, drooling morons and shitposting clowns.

He's the richest man in the world, and he's currently hand in hand with the upcoming most powerful man in the world, and yet it's still entirely believable by large swathes of the world, and the international press, that he's such a pathetic loser that he'd try something like this

Edit: Do I think it's Musk using a voice changer? Not necessarily. But I can't discount it as a very real possibility because he's got a history of sockpuppeting from his extensive collection of alt accounts, and he's exactly the sort of loser who'd try this.

Not to brag, but I've just been followed by someone claiming that the Illuminati is the highest form of human intelligence! Skimmed through their posts and it is fully unhinged, so it was a quick block. But still, the Illuminati!

Musk is having a very normal one.

I remember hearing things like this from 15 year old edge lords, not >50 year old billionaires.

A bit more tricky that one. Farage is nobody, but donold is reliant on elon, to keep twitter pumping out his nonsense. He can’t afford to lose that reach. Elon will be getting a load of regulatory favours for his businesses. There’s way too much mutual benefit.
