It needed two tyres. Online OE Landrover Pirellis were on offer at £150 each, which the main dealer agreed to match despite quoting me £300 each for (admittedly £50 more expensive) Continentals. When I went to pick it up I saw they’d fitted Continentals to match the rear, so that’s a result!
I still don’t have a build date for the new Disco - microchip shortage and JLR shuffling production around during the July shutdown. I was hoping to avoid putting tyres on this just before selling, but they were not even 2mm in the centre. Hopefully it’ll come before used car prices normalise, as this is currently only worth £10k less than I paid for it 3 years ago.
Rather painful visit to the LR stealership yesterday to talk Disco Sports. Nice facility (Marshall's) and actually a pretty good salesman (he was new, give him time to turn into a pushy knob). Still, tempted by one, despite the current inflated prices. A lot of money though. Velar would be ace, but I'd be so worried with the kids messing it up, car park dings etc.
I'd happlily sell mine to you at the WBAC/Motorway price once we have a delivery date for the new one! As an HSE Luxury with Adaptive suspesnion and a couple of other items it's as well specified as your likely to find anywhere.
In 3 years ours has only needed a new battery (probably because it sat for 3 months during the first lockdown) and a new SatNav drive when the dealer had connection issues carrying out an update and stopped it storing destination history.
Avoid the diesels as they have oil dilution/dpf issues and buy a 2019MY or newer, which is when they sorted everything out, at least until the 2021MY when they launched PiviPro nav without finishing it, but that's sorted now for cars with software updates.
Velars look nice, but they have less space inside and the rear seats aren't as comfortable.

5 weeks in with the 4C and it still entertains. Had a few ask if I prefer it to the Evora...yes and no. After especially enjoying the autobox, I'm now pretty sure my perfect 2nd car would be an Evora 400 IPS, so make of that what you will.
Tried to do a quick cold-start video (which cut off early as the HU connected and started the app up so the video got cut off )...but it's quite smokey considering it was warm today (20deg). Saw a few other 4C cold starts and they all do that puff at the start, but none seemed to throw out O's like Thomas the Tank as mine does:

Pfft. My first car had inboard discs !
I know there's a theoretical advantage around unsprung weight but given the number of cars that manage to be great without inboard discs, is there really any point ? Some marginal manufacturing cost ?

Probably makes more difference on light old cars with small wheels, lots of suspension travel and low spring rates than it would on modern stuff.
Plus of course they weren’t very quick so cooling wasn’t quite as important as it is now.
They were pretty keen to make sure they handled well so they’d be accepted and seen as ‘proper’ Alfas despite being front wheel drive. The rear dampers are inverted too to lower unsprung weight, and was the first Alfa to use rack and pinion steering.

Appreciate the thought but looking at a 2017-ish 2.0 diesel on my 22-25k budget, 30k-ish miles. Will check into the diesel issues, but really the only other option would be a p300e phev version which obviously would be well out of my current reach.

How many miles are you doing? Once you factor in additional oil changes to avoid the dilution problem and the balance shaft issue there's probably not much between petrol or diesel. Ours sits consistently at 27/28mpg on a run.
Velars don't seem to have the oil dilution issue (transverse (disco) vs longitudinal engine installation) but still wear the balance shafts.

Therein's the rub, 20's mpg doesn't compute coming from 60mpg and 4mpkWh.

The Cayenne had a slow puncture on the nsf when I bought it. I got it fixed yesterday. That only took me six and a half months

good going. I had one on the M3 for about a year - I even had a specific rectangle of wood that lived at the front of the house so I could use the footpump on the gravel drive....

Same here, coming up to a year on the Defender, I know it’s the valve stem though. Every 2-3 weeks it needs a 15 psi top up so unless it’s getting any worse I’ll just leave it till it wears out

I've had slow leaks on both rear tyres I had fitted by the tyre fitters down the road from the office. They also nicked the metal valve caps.
That's been....ooooh, two years now.
One day I'll get them fixed. One day. And not by him.

Foot pump ? Sod that. Get an electric one. I would have got it fixed a lot sooner if I was pumping it up manually each time.

I had one for several years on the 330. N/S front. Just topped it up once a month at the local peccy station. It only got fixed when I had the wheels refurbed

I’ve got one too mine has tried to be repaired but was a piece of glass that went in a small hole and made a massive one on the inside. It’s only a year old tyre so I just top it up everyone the tpms kicks off, about once every 5-6 weeks

Finally starting to get out and about with work so I've put 2k miles on the XF since its been fixed.
It's a superb place to be, the seats are superb, and cooled which is nice in this weather, bang on 51 MPG average since the intercooler was replaced, mostly sat at 75-80 going up and down motorways, can't argue with that for the power it has.
Needs some new wipers which I've ordered but other than that it's superb

If it’s from the stem then smear superglue around it, that got me home once after tweaking it when playing in the mud.

Test drove the Tucson PHEV today, very nice car with trick tech. The numbers don't work at >£450 a month on a PCP, and a 4-year GFV of £15k, though. Boot also too small for dog(ging) duties.

I've decided to get some quotes for getting the 928 completely finished as a project. As much as I enjoy working on it, I just don't get the time and at the rate I'm going it will be 2025 before it's finished. Plus, the bulk of the work remaining (interior and paint) is well outside my area of expertise. Unfortunately, these are the expensive bits, but I've got a chunk of money coming and hopefully once it's done, it'll just be a case of annual servicing. Fortunately, I'm lucky that there are several excellent Porsche places locally that can tackle this.
