All sensible suggestions. I'm looking for another job so walking to work likely won't be on the cards soon anyway.

That said just topped up the screenwash and the thing doesn't seem to be pulling water out of the reservoir, so perhaps more prosaic projects first, eh 
(I'm guessing the filter is gummed up, it's been so dry lately I've not bothered filling the reservoir up for a few weeks so it's probably all mouldy and awful in there)

Had the e30 running the other week, it was smoothing out nicely and getting up to temperature, then just cut out and refused to restart.
Had fuel this time so seemed to be only the ignition side playing up.
Pulled the ecu to bits and had a close look at the solder joints around the ignition transistor mounts and could see a feint halo around a couple so removed the old solder and remade the joints.
Now seems to be starting and running properly. Apparently the transistors are known to get a bit dodgy with age, pretty common for people to swap the exact same one on old porsches which use the same Bosch motronic system. Will probably get one in as a spare in case it starts playing up again.

I have considered getting race cats for the headers but doing 600 miles in last few days one of the noticeable things was how little drone / noise the car currently makes when not in the mood.

ABS pump for the M5 was delivered some time this week. I found a damp cardboard box that the DHL chap just chucked under the shrubs 
I’ve never bled brakes which were completely dry of all fluid before. I think it must have had the mother of all air locks, couldn’t get the fluid to go past the ABS pump by manually pumping the brakes or pulling a vacuum at the callipers. I think this is where having one of those pressurised bleeders would have helped. At this point I just got the laptop out and started to bleed the ABS pump and still nothing even though it also suggests to manually pump the pedal to bleed as normal first.
However after cycling the ABS pump about 5 times over it finally let out an impressive squeaky fart and started pumping fluid. The next 1 litre of fluid just had bubbles before it finally started to come out in a bubble free stream. Phew.
My leg got a good workout too, this genuinely surprised me

Anyway I’m getting sick of working on brakes now, got to change the caliper on the mito too but it feels like brakes is all I’ve done this year.

Rather painful visit to the LR stealership yesterday to talk Disco Sports. Nice facility (Marshall's) and actually a pretty good salesman (he was new, give him time to turn into a pushy knob). Still, tempted by one, despite the current inflated prices. A lot of money though. It needed two tyres. Online OE Landrover Pirellis were on offer at £150 each, which the main dealer agreed to match despite quoting me £300 each for (admittedly £50 more expensive) Continentals. When I went to pick it up I saw they’d fitted Continentals to match the rear, so that’s a result!
I still don’t have a build date for the new Disco - microchip shortage and JLR shuffling production around during the July shutdown. I was hoping to avoid putting tyres on this just before selling, but they were not even 2mm in the centre. Hopefully it’ll come before used car prices normalise, as this is currently only worth £10k less than I paid for it 3 years ago.
Despite passing the mot without comment, the BMW brakes were knackered, so I’ve had Brembo discs and Pagid pads fitted all round. I tried with my limited London tools to do them, but don’t think the callipers had been off for over 10 years, so gave it to the local garage to sort. £180 labour and the parts had cost me £200. Kwik Fit wanted £600 for their own brand stuff…

A colleague got a Disco Sport for his Mrs. I like them but the bloody thing is seemingly always in for repair for one thing or another. Infotainment 3 times, DPF shat itself very early despite 'correct' usage etc etc.Not sure I could.

Obviously I know they’ve got inboard front brakes, but it was still quite a shock taking a wheel off for the first time and seeing how little there is behind them
And that’s about as far as I’ve got with the front bushes as it’s been constant showers all day. If it was an urgent job I’d have rigged up a tarp or something and carried on

They are rubbish.
