We go every year and its certainly not a slum these days. There are (were - might have shut down) some very posh places to eat.

Masks are a way of life in Scotland it seems which is a massive shame.

I like Leith but it's changed noticeably since I first walked down there with Nef nearly 20 years ago.

I lived in Leith a couple of times between 2000 and 2015 and it was already changing back then. Like I say I've not really been in the area since I moved away from Edinburgh but the explosion of air b&b has had a particularly bad impact there (or good impact depending on whether you're a tourist or you're trying to live there I guess  ).

Nah, genuinely never lived in scotland anywhere other than the far, far far north, which likely makes Leith look like a palatial paradise by comparison....

M4 went in with the rear differential lock issue. Turns out the water ingress was the issue as the ECUs were fucked.. roof one too apparently although that was still working fine. It’s out of warranty since Jan so tried the “do you know who I am” line aka pleaded my case, and it actually worked! £1400 of parts good willed and over half the labour costs, so paid £400 instead of £2400.

Whilst it was in, I got it valued, up 20% since Jan, so cue lots of calls trying to buy it from me. Tempted, but no Touring until end of ‘22, so what to drive for 12-24 months!?

More driving round cones. Mostly missing them. Mostly going the right way.

Hi everyone 👋🏻 long time no see (except Sundayjumper for obvious reasons), hope you're all as awful as usual

After being carless since 2018 due to being abroad or simply not needing a car, I came back to four wheels and bought this BMW last week. Its primary purpose is being listed on https://turo.com/gb/en for other people to use, rather than because of any sudden need for a car in my life. Criteria for buying were cheap, economical and slow whilst looking quick, hence it's a 418d sport :)

Let me just check my accounts for next year

In theory it should earn enough to repay the purchase price of the car and running costs over 2 years, partly due to being able to easily serve the Central London market. Hopefully it will make a bit of extra coin on top of that during the busy months. Break even point is c.13 days rental a month averaged over 24 months. It's hard to deliver exact numbers due to the absence of detailed data to base projections on.
