This is even more mental because as a cyclist you usually become aware of emergency vehicles approaching before vehicles do, because there isn't a layer of steel blocking out the sirens.

Yeah, both idiots there.

Getting pretty tired of cars creeping between lanes/across junctions myself tbh. Maybe I’ll start throwing myself under them.

I was at the back of a fairly long queue of traffic yesterday, waiting to turn right at a junction. We were all moving forward in "chunks" as one or two cars ahead managed to pull out onto the main road. Lane wasn't very wide. I spotted a cyclist behind filtering up the inside of cars. As it was tight I'd moved out towards the crown of the road to give them space. The car behind me was oblivious however, so was sticking close to the curb and the cyclist couldn't get through.

Eventually the cyclist loses patience and decides to go around the outside of this car. I've suddenly got an open space ahead of me, so as he is pulling out to go around the car behind me, I pull forward and switch to the inside of the lane so he can come past me on the outside too, but with some safety space. But no - he wanted to go round the outside of the car following me only. I am now towards the left of my lane - stopped and unable to move forward - with him shouting and letting me know he likes Nescafe.

The very first clip is on the A38(M), a motorway on which cyclists aren’t allowed. Fortunately it’s obviously dashcam footage and not from a bicycle.

How exactly is he keeping cyclists safe there?

Car tried to pass the cyclist when there wasn't space in that lane, and began squeezing the cyclist over. Stupid driving.

However, as for the collision, I have no idea what happened there, because if the cyclist brake-tested the car, then the cyclist deserved that.

It's been really bad round here for ninja cyclists this week on the A9, dressed head to toe in black with just the tiniest of rear lights. And it's not exactly bright summer days anymore.

Pass is shown early in the footage - it's not the best, so hard to judge, but it looks like the driver potentially does pass slightly too close to the cyclist



Young driver remains extremely calm. Apparently once the cops arrived....

the driver was released without any charge/issue after sharing his footage with the cops - whilst the cyclist was hit with a "disorderly behaviour" charge and fined him $160

The trend of black bike, black clothes is nuts, I've never understood it for anything other than posing on a daytime club run/Instagram. When I commuted across town one of the fastest and diciest parts of my ride was navigating the three-lane Marylebone Road, loads of oppos for drafting bin lorries or buses and fast filtering between stationary traffic. I remember once seeing a dude dressed all in black, with a matt black carbon road bike, riding at twilight with no lights. He was essentially wearing camouflage - I'd have total sympathy for any drivers that didn't see him.

I have lights and my bike is a bright colour though.

I remember fighting (mentally, at least) with my parents wanting me to wear a high viz Sam Browne belt for cycling to school, while realising it was a deeply uncool thing to wear.
