Thanks.
Yeah seems like whatever cars I look at, all have some sort of Achilles’ heel. That’s not unexpected though.
CR-Z seems reliable, if a bit slow

The CRZ would be a good daily and probably good fun as well.
They seem to be cheap for what they are?
What about those Velosters, I think they did a turbo one with the same engine as the Ceed GT etcs.

Not on my radar at all! Just looked....184bhp so not bad. Doubt I’d choose that over, for instance, a Fiesta ST though.

Did the 3 series give up or just not doing it for you?

I'll mention the n/a Swift again but only 134bhp if your'e looking at the numbers. Weighs less than a tonne though and I'm enjoying it. Newer one is more tuneable being a 1.4t.

Engine management light on x 2

Bought a code reader, not read it yet.
My new commute will be 25-30 mins of mainly B-roads in off-peak hours (mostly), so just pondering alternative. The BMW will/should solider on til next February when the MOT is due; got a bit of free time this week so just been window shopping / watching a bit of YouTube reviews on various cars.
@JonMad I know I should like the Swift, but they’re not grabbing me for some reasons

Well it seems the turbo actuator has gone on the Mercedes so I am dropping it in on Monday just in case they can at least get the actuator number to get a recon unit ordered so they can fit it on Wednesday when the car is actually booked in for.
Should be a lot cheaper than a new Turbo and actuator from Mercedes.....

Those Velosters are funky things.
Did you know they have a rear door on the passenger side only ?

Yeah they are cool little things, I nearly bought one to replace our 308, was in metallic green with black leather, quite cool little cars and it drove very well, just a bit small for a family car for us sadly or I'd have bought one!

Have you driven one?
I had one as a courtesy car back around 2007 - not the sport and it wasn’t fast, but it still felt like a bit of a hooligan.

i30 N is worth a look if you're thinking of a velocipede. More practical design and quicker.

Also new tyres all round ordered for the MINI, to be fitted Thursday. Nothing special but a) new and b) not RFTs. I'm hoping for a noticeable difference from the 6yo P-Zero RFTs that are on there right now.
Tyres fitted yesterday. Ordered from Black Circles and I paid the extra £8 or whatever to have them fitted at home. It's totally worth it.
I've not driven the car yet but my wife says it's "less bumpy" now. Seeing as she'd probably drive on a totally flat tyre and not even notice I'm guessing this means it's a huge improvement. I'll take it for a spin later.

Who did the fitting - is there a fleet of Black Circles liveried vans doing this? I liked Tyresonthedrive but Halfords bought them so they're not competitively priced any more.

Been to Donington today to watch the world superbikes. Fantastic to see some motorsport again even tho they are limited to 4000 people
Running a bit low on fuel coming back popped some v power in - 1 pound 68 a litre. I didn't put too much in

Thats really expensive.

It was a bloke from TyreWise, who appear to be a local(ish) independant.

Nice chap, did a good job, I'm more than happy with the whole thing.

Do you run the Boxsta on super all the time? Northway (from whom I bought) didn't seem to think it made any difference. I didn't find much odds in terms of power although it did seem to give me a bit more range out of a tank (maybe about 20-30 miles extra).

Yes as I will do everything possible to avoid BORE SCORE
Usually use tesco 99 but there was a bit of an accident on the M1 so didnt want to be 'that guy' who ran out of fuel sat in traffic.
Top down on the motorway tho doing 75 its absolutely brill on a day like today, 33 mpg.

Has Sir considered an Up GTi?
I didn't realise until recently that ex-forumite Brucie Bunta also owns an Up GTi. Always knew he was a man of class and culture.
