Spent all day yesterday building a set of IKEA drawers. In hindsight paying them £150 for a really heavy jigsaw puzzle doesn’t seem worth it

We're going for a second viewing on a place this evening - ticks all the right boxes, almost nothing needs to be done to it (except a bath - they only have a shower room which is a shame because they've spent a fortune on a lively shower room) but it's already been extended, nice big kitchen etc.

My only reservation is that it's the first place we've looked at and there really isn't much else on the offer in the area we're looking in. We dithered a bit in January and missed another nice place so don't' want to miss out again.

Just agreed to the conservatory replacement. Work should start in next 8-10 weeks. Maybe sooner as we said we'd take an earlier slot should there be any cancellations.
It's 6.2m wide X 3.5m deep and the sliders give approx 3m opening.

Boiler swap and pipework change has been booked too and cast iron radiators ordered. Just need to choose a couple of towel warmers.

Also bought and outdoor dining set.

Wallet feeling battered and bruised today but still need to order the downstairs flooring, skirting and architrave. Then it can be decorated.

Also need to decide on lighting for the new solid roof. Do I add more Hue (which my wife's not too fussed about) or should I install recessed dimmable downlights???

Any chance of a look at your plans for the conservatory replacement @McSwede? Would like to see the before/afterness of it all.

The latter would be my choice. We're looking at Phos, and their trimless plaster-in units. They were formerly EcoLed and we have some of their ZEP units in our bathroom and they're great kit. A guy on PH works there afaik (certainly used to - E36GUY) and we got a great deal last time.

Our works have started today. Guys are currently fitting the new Viessmann 111-W combi and evohome kit - the new boiler is a beast! Two day job for the plumbers and the builders will be starting the rip out tomorrow as well. I think they've found some "interesting" plumbing, which may well explain why we still have flow issues upstairs despite a new 25mm MDPE main. Not surprising given the previous owner's handiwork that we've found elsewhere.

I really need to start ordering flooring and lighting!

Had the patio and path round the side/front of the house done after 14 years of being here. Loads of quotes all over the place. Eventually went with someone with good local recommendations who also gave an open breakdown on the quote of costs for materials and labour. They were also at the cheaper end. So we ended up changing from sandstone to porcelain and adding a few grand to the cost. They have been great, imo.

Here is one view before vs almost done - just grouting and decorative stones to complete. Now to buy some new furniture. And lights. And grass seed. And plants. And planters. Sadly the kids want to keep the trampoline but the shed has gone. Bins relocated out the front behind a rattan disguise thing. Garden slopes down to a stream where I'm standing, with woodland behind me.

That's not a Patio... THAT's a patio...
