My Defender has a slight leak from a front vent but it is very small and that’s when going at speed in heavy rain, otherwise it’s pretty dry.

My DumDum paste died a few years ago, I think with 500kg of it you could create a new shell and have the only truly waterproof defender in the world 😎

Galaxy has had an aircon regas and is now blowing nice and cold.

Zoe back from repair and have just sent a long list of "not good enoughs" back to them.

* both rear lights are cracked, wasn't picked up in the original estimate, but needs fixing
* bumper alignment isn't good, about 2mm off being flush
* paint quality is poor with lots of orange peel and holograms
* trim clips missing/not properly affixed in the boot
* boot trim panels not properly fitted
* car returned dirty despite having been "washed"/"cleaned"

How fun!

Took the wife's Yeti in for Service/MOT today. £470ish pounds later and it's back (Serivce,MOT,NSR tyre needed for MOT and brake fluid change).

Anyone else's dealers still using 'Coronavirus' as an excuse not to wash the car? Second year running for Crawley Skoda. I feel like saying 'yeah, well you know what Coronavirus doesn't like? SOAP!'.

Sounds like an excuse just to cut costs to be honest. Particularly unimpressive as the interior is dirtier than when it was dropped off and how do I know they were sanitary when driving it?

Coronavirus seems to be a good excuse for plain old laziness in many instances.

I didn’t realise Tesla tyres have their own specific marking like BMW and Porsche - T0 in this case. I’m sure Mik will say it’s all nonsense but I’m guessing that the non Tesla PS4S in that size won’t have foam inside.

I'm guessing that's not terribly firm foam, and it's just there to reduce road noise?

Yeah. I’m pretty certain the i3 didn’t have any foam in it’s tyres. Wonder how much of a difference it makes.

Edit - appears to be bollocks in reality according to this https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a153 ... oad-noise/

I had 10mins spare last night before the footy started so I decided to finally address something that has been a minor irritation for several years now - a flaccid rear wiper arm:

Image

It's not as bad as some that you see, be it E46 or E91s, but it was annoying me anyway. Adjusting the wiper arm by one spline on the spindle takes it too far up, so I'd been looking further at why it might get a bit saggy with age. Looking at the mechanism there's not much that could result in this, but the pivot arm assembly does have a rubber "sheath" for want of a better word, which acts as a soft stop for the pivot against a metal plate.

This rubber looks to be a bit worn and isn't separately listed from the pivot assembly, and that's a sweet £97 + delivery. So I dug out some narrow double sided 3M tape I bought a while back to restick the rear sun shade clips. It's only .78mm thick so I knew I could build it up to what would be required. 3 strips and it now has a much more pert wiper.

Image

The next minor 2min job is to fit the new access hatch cover for the front arch liner, which I've only had for 2-3yrs now...

Beyond that I've got some new boot struts on the way, and am hovering on ordering some new front wiper arms, but they're also surprisingly costly, along with 4 new hinge pins - those on the offside of the car all appear to be starting with a little corrosion (n/s are all as new looking, which is odd).

Normal PS4S don’t have foam in them.

I have to assume that this adds value in some way for Tesla.

Our current factory fit JLR spec Disco tyres have it (Continental). Lots of tyre fitters refuse to repair punctures in them, so I’ll go out of my way to avoid them in the future.

Really? Had a puncture repaired in the old set. They just cut out a section of foam, repaired it and stuck the foam back in.

Then again people said you can’t repair runflats but I had no problems with those either. Some garages are just chancers.

Apparently the new Tesla’s will come with noise cancelling technology as it’s cheaper than dealer with the rattles and squeaks they have. Not sure I believe it.

A kwik fit and an independent in London refused, so I ended up buying a tyre, but on the second puncture a kiwi fit in Cornwall just got on with it.

Just waved by bye to the Boxster.

It made a lovely noise as it drove away.

Talking about this, we picked up a puncture today while in Lichfield for a wedding. Three places refused to see it as they were busy and booking only. The fourth that I called said come over and we’ll look at it straight away.
When I arrived, he looked at the tyre and refused to repair it because it was illegal. I checked it and told him that it’s 2mm in the centre and over 3mm on the edge, so he sent for a tyre gauge. Sure enough it read 2.5mm in the centre and 3.5mm on the edge, but he still refused, trying to sell me some ditchfinders saying that he’s be liable if I had a blow out!
Avoid Tyre City in Lichfield.

I could see a Halfords auto centre from their yard, so pessimisticly I drove there. The manager took a guy off another job and fixed it in under 20min. Excellent service and I’d certainly give them a go again, whereas I’d never considered them before.

Lots of cunts unfortunately, don't know if it's worse now as everyone is trying to recoup lost business due to Covid. I called the Kawasaki dealer last week regarding some recalls on the UTV, he said he can't do the recalls as the UTV doesn't have full service history however I can still book it in for one and get it all done together. I told him that's not how recalls work and I serviced it myself last year which made him reluctantly agree to send someone round to fix it.

Thanks are a legal obligation for the manufacturer. Dob the cunt in to Kawasaki head office.

See how clever he thinks he is when Kawasaki tell him to pull the branding from his garage.

Our local Halfords Autocentre are great, I’ve used them for MOTs and the occasional tyre repair for 10+ years.

I do at least half a dozen MOTs a year. We’re on first name terms :)

Unfortunately that feels like the general standard of service when it comes to the plant machinery dealers here. And it doesn't help that there's really only one dealer in each county. Makes your usual dodgy car dealer seem like an angel...

Well of course - but I’ll soon fritter it away on something else.
